To free up space is one good reason and let's be honest the Wii hasn't really been an all-star console.

Yes it is! It has some fantastic first party games like SMG, SMG 2, Metroid prime trilogy, Metroid: other m, Xenoblade chronicles, Punch-out, Super smash bros. brawl, Mario kart wii, Super Paper Mario, S&P: successor of the skies etc. It also has some great third party games like LKS, both NMH games, 3 Resident evil remakes and two spin-offs, Zack & wiki: quest for Barbaros' treasure, a boy and his blob etc.

That's because lately every week has gone without anything new to download on the service. And as we inch closer and closer to the end of the Wii's lifespan, people are becoming more and more concerned with the current state of such service. )<:

Well, that's a lot of Mario titles and that opinion is straight from the mouth of a Mario fanatic. And I completely despised Other M, worst $40 I've ever spent.

to go for months without 3, 4 good retro games for the virtual console is disappointing. it's a shame really because it is a great concept; however nintendo and other developers have chosen to abandon it. there are so many titles yet to grace the VC that need releasing.

let's hope when the wii U comes round, the VC is included. plus i'd like to see more games from the sega saturn, dreamcast, gamecube, N.E.S etc for it.

Without a game released in NA its probably safe to say that the Wii VC is dead. So what are your thoughts? Me personally I am kinda upset cause the VC was the main reason I bought the Wii in the first place. Thankfully I still have my SNES N64 and other systems but tracking down the games at a good price is a bit tougher.

Overall I would say the Wii VC had a good run some games that I thought would never make it to the service did while others I am kinda upset cant or wont.

So anyway what are your thoughts?

The best thing about the VC was Rondo of Blood. I would have never owned a TG-16 so I am glad that game was put on there. Originally I personally thought the VC was a great idea but as I downloaded a couple of games it made me realized how much I wanted the real thing as opposed to the emulated bit of data. Blame it on nostaliga but blowing into a NES game pak or clicking the Grimace purple SNES power button into place are all a part of the whole retro gaming expereince that defined much of my childhood. The convenience of the all in one VC and the close but not quite right controls of the Wiimote and and Classic Controller doesn't quite recapture it for me. I am glad that there a lot (but not all by any means) of games available to download for others to enjoy though. Heck, I still fire Super Castlevania IV on the VC though for when I need a quick (or long) fix of that amazing game but I dont do much VC gaming overall.

I agree with you there Ryno, but my biggest thing with the VC is the price of the games. Some of those games original forms can go for a high price and someone like me a full time student with a kid cant afford those prices of the original cartridge. Also I like how you can exit out to the home menu on the VC effectively saving your game kinda nice for some of those long games that you have to play through in one sitting.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

I hear ya about the price. $5 to play (legally) a NES classic vs. what I usually pay for it complete is a deal anyway you blow it. I know you would be all over the originals if you had enough disposable income. Gaming is an expensive hobby so finding good value, which I think the VC is/was, is a huge plus but I have somehow convinced myself that complete versions of NES and SNES games are worth the higher price over the cheaper small bits of data stored up in my Wii. With limited budgets I can apreciate playing $5-10 for retro classics though. Suspend feature can be nice but hey, after firing up a game like Ninja Gaiden or whatever so many times I can whip through the first group of levels that used to be so difficult for me; makes me a better player then had I used Suspend to progress. Someday Tasuki, you get your collection all together and take a picture of it.

I'll never have the time to play all of the VC games I'd like to play, so I can't fret about the good games that are missing. And the VC isn't done. ... It will reappear on WiiU, and I wouldn't be surprised if it reappears with some of the very titles people are longing for, to spur WiiU sales.

if they lowered the prices for the games, then maybe more people will make more use of it.

What are my thoughts?

I think people whine too much and take the service for granted.

I agree 100%
We already got what we needed from VC, any other old games are best forgotten and never seen again!
I for one is glad that VC is dead, some games are never ment to see the light of day!

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

I never figured I would see LordJumpMad troll the forums, I'm disappointed
@LordJumpMad So nobody should ever play Star Fox, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island or Donkey Kong 64 ever again because you think they are best left forgotten D|

If they don't get that promised translated Monster world IV on Wii VC I'll be seriously pissed.
Honestly that and Lufia is about all we got left on the coming soon list that's any good.
Let's assume the VC isn't really dead until Nintendo officially says it is.
It's still nearly another year until Wii U arrives so you'd like to think they'd do something with VC before then.

Haha @Megatron2000 I honestly don't think @LordJumpMad was trolling, I think he was making fun of @Iz20XX who can be argued was, though I don't really think @Iz20XX meant it as an insult to people who want more games on the service he was just merely stating his personal opinion

Apparently the Wii VC is still alive in Japan, so the question is what the deal is with NA and PAL regions.

I just hope they release Donkey Kong 64, Yoshi's Island, and others before Nintendo cuts off all other support for the Wii.

That and as Aviator said, these topics keep popping up in the forums almost every week with "fans" saying the same thing over and over again. It's kinda getting old

I remember vividly waking up every Monday morning with butterflies in my stomach. The thrilling anticipation of waiting for the press release to be posted. Wondering what nostalgic treasure was in store for us. The rush of seeing the title of one of my all time favorite games being released and counting down the seconds until the shop updated. Wii VC was a beautiful thing. It brought me so much joy and happiness. I am very sad to see my love die. Cut down so fast, taking all that potential with it. My heart will forever have a hole in it.

R.I.P. Wii VC. I will always love you. ;__;

Come on now guys. The VC may not be completely dead yet.
You never know they might surprise us a little closer to the holidays. Why would they have recently rated Mega man X2 for release if it was totally finished? Plus they haven't given us Monster World IV or Lufia yet.
I'm gonna wait and see if we get anything around christmas time. If the rest of the year goes by without a single update then I might believe the VC is done.
