What do you think are the odds of some Saturn titles on Wii U's Virtual Console? If those come in a year, I wouldn't feel quite so frustrated that the Wii VC is on hold.

No. Its still a pain to be emulated no matter how powerful the console is. Even top-end expensive P.C.s have a hard time emulating it so I hear.

Best hope that PlayStation One games can come to the VC. If PS1 Castlevania Symphony of the Night can come to the X-Box 360 then it should come to the Wii U too.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

In a strangely circuitous twist, Symphony of the Night was also on Saturn, of course!

I would love Saturn emulation on any console but to the best of my knowledge only one first-party Saturn game has been re-released — NiGHTS into Dreams — and that was achieved by recoding it, not emulating. The odds don't look good, but Guardian Heroes just came out on XBLA I suppose so maybe the tide is turning...

Honestly, in my dream world I'd like to have one spot for perfectly emulated, perfectly upscaled (720p is acceptable) retro games spanning NES to Playstation 1. But with Sony owning their own console, that is out of the question. The Saturn is a good runner-up to PS1, and Sega has published plenty of older titles on Nintendo's service. It seems like there's synergy there. I have read on the 'net many times that the Saturn is technically challenging to emulate. I've tested emulation on my PC of Saturn and it is more cumbersome than NES or SNES, but not impossible. Of course, hacks and independent efforts that require patience and per-game concessions isn't what Nintendo is aiming for. However recently I read that Sega actually has a functional Saturn emulator they can license to those interested. And they've had it for years. Check out the coverage for the PSP game Princess Crown: official, commercial Saturn emulation has been in the wild for five years! I think there's cause to hold some hope of seeing Saturn on the Wii U's VC, and I'll be first in line to e-buy!

If Saturn games do make it onto the VC, I don't want them to stop at Dragon Force. There are so many Saturn games that never made it out of Japan and I would love to see them officially make it over here.

...in my pants.
