Topic: Rumor: Adventure Island II will be released on thursday in North America?!

This rumor is spreading like wildfire across various forums and blogs across the web,so I thought I'd share it here

I figured Adventure Island II would be released in america soon and it looks like I might be right

It's about time. Why did they wait so long to bring it over here? Europe's had it for months...

Good news, anyone know how this title compares to the other Adventure Island titles that are available?

It's one of the best in the series in my opinion anyways

@Megatron2000 would you say it's a good starting point in the series, or would an earlier version better represent it? I figured I'd enjoy it, because of it's rpg elements.

It doesn't have much of a story and it has a great combination of gameplay elements that are not found in any other adventure island game so I would highly recommend purchasing this game |D
Btw I don't think Nintendo has confirmed that this game will be released today so it's possible this could be a false rumor spreading across the web.....either way I hope this comment helps

@Megatron2000 So your saying it wouldn't hurt to start with the earlier titles, so that I'll have a better appreciation for it's mechanics and familiarities?

I would actually recommend this game first unless you're bad at platforming style games if you are then I'd recommend New Adventure Island for the TG-16

Well it will either be that or The Ignition Factor. We had a Jaleco game last release, so it probably will be AI2. I doubt we are gonna see any of the Sega VC releases until the fall when they get released onto PSN and XBLA as well.

Super Adventure Island II could also be released.

Yep it's Super Adventure Island 2.
Still would be nice to get the Nes sequels though.

While Super/Adventure Island was a copy of Wonder Boy, Super Adventure Island II tries to clone Wonder Boy II/III/MW, but with adding annoying stuff like a boring overworld and random battles that do nothing more than breaking the flow.

I think the Wonder Boy's were fun little platformers. (I have all five of them on VC.) Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap (SMS) might be the best 500pts I've ever spend on the Wii Shop (and I have 150 VC/WW games).

The Adventure Island series isn't bad but not quite on the same level. The Wonder Boy series was always more advanced, with better gameplay, graphics and soundtrack. Back in the day for a change Sega got the better games in this case and Nintendo just got the decent "ports", however now they're all on a Nintendo console fortunately, and if you like Adventure Island I recommend trying the (unfairly overlooked) Wonder Boy games as well.

Speaking of Wonder boy I hope we get Monster World IV on Wii VC soon.
I guess you could call it Wonder Girl.
Right now that's my most wanted game on the list of possible releases.
A while back they even said it was being translated for a US release.
Can't wait for that!

Yeah we've already got the rest of the games Europe got except for this one.

Remember there are a few confirmed games for north america that haven't been released yet too ;D
The ones that I want the most would be Lufia and Megaman X2 |D but The Secret of Evermore and Super Mario World 2 have been submitted to the ESRB but thier rating is pending source http://gonintendo.com so it looks like north american virtual console will continue to get goodies for a while |D

Looks like it didn't unfortunately.

...and so we continue to play the waiting game.

Worst game on the Nintendo that.

I've been playing it for the past twenty years and its still not fun.
