I playing and enjoying Punch-Out right now. But I do have a question. I hope it's not a glitch, but sometimes when I get knocked down, Mario steps in to count to ten, but no matter how fast I press the buttons, I won't get up. I can't even see my head appear. Is this a glitch or something?

Hmm...sounds like a glitch. Have you consulted the virtual operations guide? If you're sure you're doing everything right, I would contact Nintendo about it. Good luck.

If you get knocked down multiple times throughout the fight eventually it won't let get back up. No glitch.

Ok, I just thought it was weird that Mario was counting, but no matter how fast I pressed the buttons, ther is no sign of me getting up. But it was a third time in the fight. I don't really understood that either. The manual says that three downs is a TKO, so why count.

But I beat him, new WVBA Minor Champion. Woohoo.

A TKO is three downs in a single round. During the course of a fight, you can get knocked down 6 times and still win, in theory.

Yeah if you get knocked down three times in the same round it's an instant TKO. Though like in in real life if you keep taking a beating you are going to trouble getting up. So after multiple knock downs spread out between rounds Little Mac gets severe brain trauma and can't get up anymore.

Thanks for clearing that up. I'm up against King Hippo now, but I just got my ass whipped. Not a single blow connected, damn he is tough. But I love it and it's a real challenge. Trying different moves and block/blow combinations to try and find his weakness. I love it so far. If I'm done with this one, I think I get Super Punch-Out from VC.

No problem man. All three Punch-Out games are some of my all time favorites. You can't wrong with any of them.

Yeah it isn't a glitch, it's just when you take a good pounding and you get knocked down, just like in real life the ref will still count to 10 if someone is down even if they don't get back up. Once you get good at Punch-out there are some fights where you can do the same to your opponent, i.e. knock them down (usualy for the 2nd time), Mario will count but they won't get up, or they may get 1/2 way up and fall flat on their face.

Kign Hippo isn't actually "tough", this is a puzzle battle. You need to figure out the solution to how to damage him. Once you catch on, he falls easily, the challenge is catching on in the first place.

Yes, I finally managed to beat Hippo. All this time I tried to hit him in the stomach first, but I should have listen to my trainer all along.
