According to a message on the Wii Shop Channel, Super R-Type and R-Type III: The Third Lightning (both for the SNES) will become unavaliable for purchase on March 31, 2012.
What's going on with Irem? They self published Super R Type on the VC, so why is it getting removed? Factor 5 is no more, but their games are still on the VC (probably better grab those games too, just in case).
It's nice of them to give notice. I wonder how many more sales the notice will generate than if they left the games up forever though — could be a smart business move to scare fence sitters into purchasing.
Thanks for the advert. When Irem quit R-Type from SMS i got the 2 SNES games. But i will download the Turbografx one so i can have my complete trilogy and to prevent they quit this game too. If you know more please notice us here.
Me gusta jugar videojuegos. Soy de México. Sorry my english grammar. I love the Virtual Console, party and fighting games too.
Sorry!! I wanted say that was about PAL Wii Shop Channel!
If the R-Type series will be removed in PAL territories, it is likely the game will also be gone in the U.S. since R-Type for the Master System was removed over here as well. It is really unfortunate to know games on the Virtual Console service are going.
@DarkEdi - That's a good point. If they let us transfer games at all, I'm curious to know if you can also transfer games that you own that were removed from the Wii Shop.

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.
And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)
i collect carts but i also love downloading VC games just as much. i hate when stuff like this happens.

I collect carts too, but many I sold when the Virtual Console arrived. I wish I had never done that. I love the concept behind downloading classic games but the service is becoming unreliable. Its like everytime I log onto NL I find another game has been removed (or will be) from the VC.
@Heavy_Barrel yeah im kinda reverse of that, i started buying more carts like a madman once i seen how the VC service was going. i love the service, but i started seeing that most of the games i like probably wont see the light of day on VC, i love rare and obscure games so when one pops up on VC i get it rather i have it already or not. if yer serious about it (if you dont already) id suggest getting an nes, snes and sega genesis system.
