Have any of you guys (besides the Dreaming Hawk and myself) sent emails to D4 Enterprises?

Nah, I figure I'm telling them how good a job their doing by actually buying their games.

Doesn't talk about games.

@TheDreamingHawk Who's releasing the same games over and over again? Every game they've released so far are different games. You would know if you actually played them...

I have played a few neo geo games on a neo geo arcade cabinet at my local old video game store. They had both art of fighting 1 and 2 for it, and metal slug X and the last blade 2 as well, and when I played both AOF games, I could see not much difference between the two outside of new characters of some minor new battle features. In other words, it didn't feel like a total revamp like most sequels. But the Last blade 2 and metal slug were OK, just not the best kind of games I've played.

Most sequels aren't total revamps. Seriously, what games do you play? Not only that, but Art of Fighting 1 and 2 weren't as big a change as usual. I agree, they were minor, even by relative terms. But Art of Fighting 3 is very different, and the changes are very noticable. Most KOFs introduce entirely new systems that really change up the gameplay. As do many of the Fatal Fury games. Even the Street Fighter games can change radically from game to game. 'Course we aren't talking about reinventing the wheel here, but still, they change enough so it's a new experience every time.

That said, you have not played nearly enough to bash on the entire Neo Geo library. Also, how are The Last Blade 2 and Metal Slug X not the best of their kinds? How???

Well, first off, so you know what I was playing it on (Incase the VC versions are different) It's this thingy:

Untitled

I tend to play a ton of action and adventure games, and RPGs. While some don't change the formula much, most of the time the changes make the game feel "new" instead of "remaked" (Pokemon Mystery dungeon explorers of sky and Ys II is a example)

And even though the last blade 2 WAS very good and fun (Probably the only Neo geo fighter I would DL on my wii U), it didn't feel as fun or as refined as Virtua fighter or Street fighter III, but that's just IMO. And metal Slug X felt like a semi-contra game that was a little weaker than what I am used to with those kinds of games. Maybe AOF 3 was better, but they didn't have it, so I couldn't try it. They did also have Magical drop III and one other game, but I didn't try those so I can't say anything about them.

The arcade versions are the same as the console versions without the credit system and a few minor things with difficulty, menus and such. Graphically they were identical as well. This is why the Neo Geo was so impressive. It was basically the arcade experience at home.

If anyone has emailed them, did you get a responce? I am considering emailing them to thank them for the great job they do with the VC (and I buy their games as well) and to make some recommendations.

Even just considering the Neo Geo, I think the original Shock Troopers is a better run 'n' gun shmup than Metal Slug, perhaps even better than the Contra games as well. As for the best run 'n' gun shmup of all time, people often cite Gunstar Heroes, but I've yet to play it, so I can't comment on that.

But yeah, Shock Troopers, Metal Slug... some really great games here. And very obscure too, as all SNK/NeoGeo games are, so I am surprised to see all the complaints in this thread, especially with the lack of other new VC releases lately. I think Wii owners should be grateful to have these kind of obscure, high quality games available.

For me Metal Slug, then Shock Troopers then Contra. I hate the second Shock Troopers though. Didn't give a flip about Gunstar.

Shock Troopers 2 is available today on North American VC I will buy it asap in the perhaps fable hope they will release Sengoku 3 in the future

I got me some Shock Troopers 2! Now I want Pulstar and Blazing Star on the VC. I didn't care for Sengoku at all, but Sengoku 3 looks like a big improvement. I might go for it.

In my opinion the first two Sengoku games are quite mediocre but Sengoku 3 is easily the best SNK beat em up and one of the few last games that pushed Neo Geo capabilities to the limit (alongside Garou Mark of the Wolves and Last Blade 2).

If you like platformers or action games but haven't downloaded Metal Slug 3, you really are missing out. That game has a ton of content.

Sadly no. I even used google translate to translate my email into japanese with D4 (They are Japan only, SNK is english). And yes, I translated it back to english to make sure it made sense. What it said in the translation was:

"God slayer Famicom please"

I saw in wikipedia that Ninja Master's was sold on Ebay at $ 400 USD actions, the same goes for Iron Clad amazing.

P.D. I personally saw an Ebay auction for Sengoku 3 on $ 1700 USD (no kidding), Neo Geo games are such rare I guess (only 500 copies of Sengoku 3 were produced for the English speaking market).

I would totally buy King Of The Monsters 2. I never really liked the original, but the sequel has a lot of memories with me.

I like both.
I take back what I said. I prefer the first one. I accept the second is a better game but well you really can't compare them since the first one is basically a wrestling game Big fun if you play co-op, so I am content with just the first one. Plus I love Beetle-Mania.

Metal Slug 4 added today I guess SNK/D4 Enterprises are the only ones to continue to support the VC, let's hope they add more Neo Geo titles

I have it on Metal Slug Anthropology already ....

It's also not all too good. I would rather they hold off on the Metal Slug and go for other series. Metal Slug 4, 5, and 6 are not all that great.

Kof 98 would definitely be a purchase for me.
