Topic: NES Ghosts' n Goblins no longer on Wii Shop

Anybody notice that Nintendo removed the NES version of GnG? Now I cant download it anymore, even from account activity

it might just be a hiccup... someone else brought up a game that wasn't showing up in the DSi Shop, but as it turned out the game showed up again in the Shop a few days later as if it'd never been gone, lol.

Since when are VC games removed from the shop? The only one I ever heard of was last Ninja 3 in Europe because the game had a glitch that wouldn't let you progress beyond the first level.

Perhaps they'd rather you download the more expensive arcade version instead and don't wish newcomers to go for the inferior NES port just because its cheaper.

Its still a crappy thing to do though even if that is what happened. Some people may not be bothered playing the cheaper NES version over the arcade version.

Then explain the tons of other cheaper console versions of arcade games that still remain on the shop.
Golden Axe, Altered beast and games like that. I don't think they'd remove games just so you'll be forced to choose the more costly versions.

Could just be Capcom's policy alone then. I don't know. I don't think one game suddenly going missing when the same game is being released on the arcade is coincidental. I actually read about the game being missing about a week ago on GameFAQs so its been gone this long.

Hmm that is weird. I just checked myself and couldn't find the Nes version either. Oh well the game sucks anyway. Everyone should know super ghouls and Ghosts on Snes is the only one worth having anyhow. No big loss if the Nes version really is gone.

I just checked the Shopping Channel and it's still there for 500 points. (In germany.) I can't see a reason why they should remove it.

Just talked to a Nintendo rep and he said that it has been removed for good, but gave no reason as to why

Well the arcade version is the superior version with better sound and graphics so why wouldn't you want that instead?
I can see why it was removed. No sense having the same game on there twice.

The rep told me that a Nintendo admin will call me within 48 hours to give me a refund for the game

really? maybe there was something wrong with it... that's been the only reason they've taken games down so far.

Yepp, so anyone who had it that cant redownload it anymore should call Nintendo to get a refund

As far as I know, GnG NES has been the only game delisted from Virtual Console, I could be wrong, though....

@samus2008: Last Ninja 3 for C64 was pulled from the shop, and i'm wanting to say at least one WiiWare game was pulled for being buggy, but for the life of me i can't remember what it was, so don't quote me on that. :/

Well U.S never had Last Ninja 3, so GnG is the first game pulled from U.S servers

That's why I keep all my VC games on an SD card. That way I won't have to redownload anything.
I guess you shouldn't have deleted it from your Wii. That is BS though that you paid for the game and now you can't get it back. At least you'll get a refund.
