Hello there. The world morns in Micheal Jackson death. I myself am sad too, however, I got an great idea that can cheer us up.

You know that dead people that were alive can't hold any license to a game based on them? Well, since Micheal Jackson is dead, we can finally release Micheal Jackson Moonwalker for the Sega Genesis without Nintendo getting sued up their ***! Before, it would be impossible, but now, it's more likely then Earthbound, and by that, near guranteen. Don't listen to the Angry Video Game Nerd, this has the potential to be an good game.

But why support it's release? Because, althought we may not have anymore licensing issues on this game, this could lead to Nintendo getting motivated to solve other licensing issues. It's genius! So I say, support it's release! If you support it's release, I'll write it down here. This game can be released in Micheal Jackson memory:

Come on Nintendo. You'll earn lots of money out of releasing this. So will Sega. Maybe Micheal's family will benefit from this too. Also, this is the best way for gamers to remember him.

People always care more about others when they're dead.

I can't wait till I'm dead.

(Not serious up there folks, about me and dying and all, so nobody get any ideas)

Who else supports the inevitable Virtual Console re-release of Micheal Jackson Moonwalker?

Hardly the whole world.

Copyright doesn't just expire the moment the person expires. Not how it works.

Solve other licensing issues? Nintendo didn't solve this, unless you're accusing them of murder.

I'm sure he'd love to be remembered for a Sega game, not his music, haha.

I doubt it. The game is awful and frankly disturbing in its theme. I played it back in the day, and it's one of those memories that unfortunately stuck with me.

I understand some people are for some reason emotionally affected by the deaths of people they don't know, and I'm not trying to mess with that, but I just don't think you understand how licensing and copyright issues affect the Virtual Console. His family or company or both retain rights to anything with his name on it in US law. It's completely ridiculous in my opinion, and I wish it worked the way you seem to think it does, but sadly it's not the case.

Wow, how ghoulish and tasteless. The man died a few hours ago.
And no, this doesn't make it any easier for the game to be released. The rights are going to pass onto the holder of his estate. It doesn't magically make it up for grabs.

I guess I am officially not part of the world (I always suspected), or some people don't understand the depth of meaning in the word "to mourn."

The whole world doesn't mean every person in my book, just at least one person in every town in the world

I understand. The first clause of that sentence was just a joke, though the second was serious. I think exaggerating what it means "to mourn" is more disrespectful than jokes. Michael Jackson fans are a bit sad; the Jackson Five are actually mourning.

He DID just die. I don't think his family gives a rats butt about anything but that right now.

Damn it learn to spell Michael. It's M-I-C-H-A-E-L. I take special offense because that's my first name. Err, that'd be my first name if my real name wasn't "pixelman".

And superweirddam, your first post was awesome.

Good points, Adam and The Fox. also, I highly doubt he personally owned all of the rights to a game in his likeness. Copyrights expire when they are not renewed. from the page I am about to link to: "If the work was a work for hire (e.g., those created by a corporation) then copyright persists for 120 years after creation or 95 years after publication, whichever is shorter"

Also, Jesus Freaking Christ. Were I more incensed, I might ask you for your address so that I can go to your house and read to you US copyright law, and what licensing actually means. My 9th grade civics class did happen to cover this, but I can understand that you may not be familar with copyright law. (Though why you continue to ignore when people try to help you understand why many of your hopeful ideas don't work as you'd like them to is bothersome. There is such a thing as hope, but this is far past being either willful ignorance or naivete)

Okay, I'm sorry about what I've was doing wrong here. Please someone lock this thread so it doesn't get any worse then now. There's a better way to respect the musical legend.

Don't sweat it, buddy. It's nothing personal whatsoever, and I'm not bothered at all. I don't think anyone is. Just pointing out a few mistakes.
