As some of you may know I recently reported Nintendo to UK trading standards after months of emailing them about their persistant failure to fix this game, not to mention the extremely poor customer service of Codestorm UK who at first refused to even acknowledge the problem. The game has been on sale and in broken format for over a year which is, frankly, a disgrace.
Today I finally received this email:
I apologise for emailing you directly, but we have today received confirmation that “Last Ninja 3” will be removed from the European Virtual Console service. Any consumers that have purchased this title will have the Nintendo Points value refunded to their account. Once again, thank you for providing information regarding this title.

No confirmation of whether we will ever see it again in a fixed format but what this just goes to show is that it IS possible to get Nintendo to do something if you complain hard enough
Next up, let's sort out those PAL conversions

Better start complaining how there isn't a PhoenixSage game where you pilot a flying pirate ship......

On a serious note, Nintendolife adjusting their review score played a big part in Nintendo's decision as it allowed me to back up my facts when Nintendo wouldn't take things written on forums seriously. It just goes to show what I've always said that this site does have the potential to change mindsets if it is critical when required. Well done to the reviewer in question for helping me out in that sense

@Betagam7 Good job in taking the seriousness of the internet one step closer to being reality! Now we just gotta wait some other person to make a video with him dropping the F-Bomb every five seconds, eventually taking the seriousness of the internet and throwing it in the trashcan, resulting in a few thousand steps back.

Thanks for the update and being a voice Betagam7
I think its important to remind Nintendo that we gamers really take this very seriously and the best quality emulation for the VC.

No problem dude. Power to the people
I guess if anyone is interested in playing the first level of LN3 then now could be the time to get it before its removed. From the looks of things you are guaranteed a refund and you get a one level demo of a game to keep, unless Nintendo has some way of deactivating it as they did with the demos

Ok i'm confused. does this bug only affect Euro consoles??

I still hope that Nintendo will do more than just refund gamers but also fix the game bug that causes it to crash. Once all that is straight then I hope it arrives on the NA VC.
Edit: Yes Last Ninja 3 is only on the EU VC, but if gamers did not speak up it may have arrived on the NA VC with the gamebreaking bug.

Kinda makes me wonder why Commodore Gaming didn't just fix the problem.

The thing is, and my point to Nintendo, while the game remained on sale then what incentive did Commodore gaming have to fix the game? Now its been pulled they may actually get their fingers out of their...err...ears. I've emailed the guy in question to ask if this is now a possibility but Codestorm (Nintendo UK's customer service people) probably don't know the answer as they are just a third party that Nintendo Europe hires out to handle their UK customer relations (something they havn't been doing very well up till now).

It's inexcusable that this was not addressed earlier. What the hell.

Wow, this is a first. It's the first time I heard of a game removed from the VC.

Now lets beg them to fix it and put it back up. I'd be really dissapointed if I never got to play the third game. It looks like the best one. Especially with that awesome intro. I hope somehow it still makes it to the American VC in perfect working order.

Well as the game has been broken since release and commodore gaming have failed to fix it in over a year its the responsible thing to do. perhaps next week Nintendo can actualy give us two VC games to fill the gap...actually one would do, ideally they could release Wizball which was rated over a year ago to fill the C64 gap, although they indicated to me recently that they have no release date planned for it.On a serious note, the fact that they are giving out refunds doesn't indicate that they are anticipating a fix. Looks like this could become our first NEGATIVE 1 VC week :-/

We can only hope this does not become and trend. Canidates for future games that could be taken down include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Sonic The Hedgehog 3, due to licensing issues.

...this comment really isn't worth responding to.
The only reason the game was pulled is because it was broken, there's nothing to worry about with the other games.

SSBF - If there were licensing issues that could cause these games to get pulled years after they were first put on the VC, they probably would not be on there in the first place. They have both been there since 2007 I believe, I think they are safe
And what licensing issue is there in Sonic 3?
