I've been forcing my roommate to play multiplayer games with me because I get bored playing alone. We have played and beaten Metal Slug X and Gunstar heroes and are looking for another fun multiplayer on the VC to download and play. I heard somewhere SoM was multiplayer, but I always thought it was single player. Do you both control a character? How does it work? Thanks!

You can play it with three people at once. I have yet to try it out, but I do know that it is multiplayer.

You can play with up to 3 though only 1 at first. Fantastic game.

To blessed to be stressed.
80's music makes me feel fabulous.
I miss Japanese games, the good stuff... Games that are imaginative, have good and unique gameplay, a great soundtrack, and replay value.

Yes, you have the find the other two playable characters in the game first (though you do find them fairly early in the game).

I loved playing SoM with friends in the 90's. I recently tried it again on the Wii solo and it was terrible. Multiplayer can really make or break a game. Secret of Mana is way better with more players.

...in my pants.

IMO the only way to play Secret of Mana is multiplayer.

I could see how multiplayer would be fun but I still enjoyed Secret of Mana solo.

I think I only played Secret of Mana solo once or twice and the thing I remember is how bad the AI was for the other characters mostly how they would always get stuck in places. So annoying.
