Hey guys, i know this questions seems like an instant yes for a lot of people, but for me i already have mario kart wii and i used to own mario kart for my n64. Even tho i still have the n64 and the game, i can't hook the n64 up to any of our new tvs...so is it worth rebuying or is mario kart wii fine. I dont feel like wasting wii points, so right now im kind of thinking its not worth it, but maybe you guys will change my mind...

Hmm... depends, the problem that I have with N64 games in general on the VC is that you really, REALLY need an N64 controller to play them with. However there is that Retro connector comming out in the states soon that will allow you to play an N64 controller to the Wii via the GCN ports. Then again Mario Kart 64 plays quite well with the GCN pad, so at the end of the day, it's all up to you.
Well I've downloaded it solely because there are courses in the game I want to re-familarise myself with that haven't been seen in the DS and Wii Mario Kart games.
Its a nice diversion for a little while but you can live without it since you have Mario Kart Wii. I'd say its only a pointless download if you don't care for the retro courses.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
Block Fort is still one of the very best battle courses there are, and considering how awful MKWii's battle mode is, the N64 game is worth it just for that. I'm not a huge fan of the racing though. There aren't that many courses, a lot of them aren't too good, and it's the slowest entry in the series.
TRUST ME on this one @ DaDun... dude Mario Kart 64 is the pinacle of the series & the BEST there is!!
It still is to this very day my favorite of the series; & perhaps my only favorite! I have all of them except waiting for Super Mario Kart on the VC!
Mario Kart DS: satisfying but hate the D-Pad controls, & I hate the missions... haven't played in a huge long time! Mario Kart Wii: it is nice & fun, but it got old very fast for me... other than I still haven't beat the 150cc cup because they are just too hard for me; & not to mention the AI computer players frustrate the hell out of you!
Mario Kart 64 is still races like a dream though; no pun intended! The controls (classic controler is also just fine), & the graphics are still crisp & sharp! The most #1 fun thing about it which is totally worth the points it the nostalgic feel when playing it! If you knew some of its secrets; like the jumping through the waterfall in the Yoshi Falls-or-River (think that's what it's called).. then that's the most fun you'll get from an awesome racing game! It's about having fun with friends or by yourself! Also the Battle mode is where all of the fun is; being the block fort, skysraper, & maze are my top 3 favorite courses to race around & blast opponents making their ballons pop... or just diving down for the heck of it loosing your life so you can blast someone as a bomb! Another one of my favorite things is to just go off course & drive insane into Peach's Castle all of the time; one of the funniest things to do trying to drive up those ramps of the draw bridge!
I think all of this says it well enough; savvy?! So tell me if anything I said was worth it & helped out a lot for you to purchase the game again!
Mario Kart Wii is the best in the series if you ask me. MK64 is a good game. It has great track designs but there are some that I dont particularly have fond memories of, (Yoshi Valley/gorge, whatever it was called, I'm looking at you). The multi-player is the best though. Can't fault it.
Mario Kart Wii is the best in the series if you ask me.
"No, no it's not!" That's is my personal opinion buddy take it or leave it!
"Yes it is I have seen it." "You've seen a ship with black sails, that's crewed by the da*ned, & captained by a man so evil that hell itself spat himself back out?!" "No... but I have seen a ship with black sails." "Oh so no ship with black sails, that's crewed by the da*ned, & captained by a man so evil that hell itself spat himself back out; could not possibly be the Black Pearl now can't it?! Is that what you're saying?!" "No! (laughs)" "Like I said; there is no real ship that can match the Interceptor!"
You people don't even know all of the Pirates of the Caribbean quotes as well as I do! @AdamEdit: Just look above at post #10! Quote from Pirates of the Caribbean The Curse of the Black Pearl; where Captain Jack is stopped by the funny soliders when comodering a pretty boat... ship!
But we're getting off subject; sorry! @ DaDun: "Still rooting for you mate!"
@ Adam: "Nice hat!" Note: Quote at the end of the movie; Jack to Will before he falls off the wall!
Definitely not. Despite what people say, now Mario Kart 64 is just old. There is no reason to purchase it unless you have a ridiculously disposable income. The Wii version is superior in every way except nostalgia, so why would you play the 64 one?
@ Adam. Captain Jack has Aspergers. The thing that he knows heaps about appears to be Pirates of the Carribean. Please give him a break.

I'm not quite sure what to say to that; or what you mean by that in the first place @Kim+Jong-II?! I'm not even sure if that is a compliment or not?! Plus you don't even know me that well to say that even!

Yeah,I agree. Kim Jong II does't know people too well on Nintendo Life.
