Here's my idea - if you press the minus button (-) on the Wii Remote, it'll bring up a menu of both 50Hz and 60Hz to choose from, and then it gets rid of the black borders and changes the speed (of course, Sonic & Knuckles uses the 3 lock-on games to choose, but can also use the 50Hz/60Hz option).
Have you got any of yours to tell out?

Ninjas. The only foolproof way of getting something done.
Lieutenant Commander of the Lesbian Love Brigade
There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
You have the option of downloading either the American version or the PAL version. However like all imports, the American version would cost 100 points extra. This is seperate to the PAL games which remain at the regular amount.
Not ideal still but it sounds like something Nintendo would do to fix the problem.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

Bad idea! The minus button is "SELECT" in most games. You can't put 2 commands on one button. Solution: An additional option in the HOME menu where you can select between 50Hz and 60Hz.

Bad idea. Very bad idea. Solution: Nintendo just updates all games to have both 50Hz and 60Hz selectable for everyone's confidence.
Its been said before but its not necessaily the ROM thats the problem, but the emulator. Most PAL megadrive / mastersystem games will happily run in 60HZ, aside those with a region lock.
I mean, the PAL gamegear would run all mastersystem software in '60HZ', I used to wonder why they were so much faster!
Even with an 'optimised' PAL game such as sonic 2, the PAL cart will still boot on a US Genesis with the music running at the correct speed. Nintendo need to fix their emulator so it supports PAL60HZ where possible (most Megadrive games do), then find a work around for partially 'optimised' (faster music) games and region locked titles.
As I've said before, I guess this would require them to spend a little time and a small share of those profits, but would add a great deal of value to the service.
It doesn't need to be selectable for each game - there's a 50hz/60hz option in the Wii options menu. It should simply be if that's set to 50hz then all games (including the VC) play at 50hz. If not then they should play at 60hz. I mean it does it already for all games except those on the VC, which are just stuck at 50hz causing all sorts of problems with my HD TV.
I think they should have an option on the Shop Channel to download either a 50hz version, for those who want the game "exactly as they remember it", and a 60hz version, for those who want the game running properly...
OK, maybe this idea would be better: if you go to any VC game stuck with the 50Hz conversion, press the HOME button and there will be a feature next to Operations Guide where you can select either option, 50Hz and 60Hz. After you chose either option, the game may either pause to scan through or reset.
Nope, worst idea. Nintendo will never bring out the 60Hz feature for us Europeans.

Well, they do have the magic handshake for making some games run under component (this is supposed to be somehow more permanent at some point I thought) so folding the two together via your suggestion sounds like a good one to me.
