Topic: I Missed The Deadline To Add More Wii Points :(

I all,

I missed the deadline to add more Wii Points and I still have 400 Wii points in my account As you know this is 100 points less than what is needed to buy a NES game and I could not find anything I could buy with those points and I don't want them to be waited. To date I have 168 VC and WiiWare games and I wanted to add a few more before the service is gone for good.

(1) Has this happened to anyone else?
(2) Does anyone know of anything I can get with these points?
(3) Does anyone know if I can transfer these points to my 3DS eShop account?

I am sure it's has
Maybe check Wiiware games
Nope Eshope and Wii points are.different.

Nintendo gave people plenty of warnings and time that it was shutting down of you can't find anything then yep those points are wasted.

And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)

@RusevDay Thanks man. Appreciated. I can't complain too much. Over the last 10 years I was able to collect some great games via the Wii VC and WiiWare service. Just this last week work got really busy and I get paid at the end of the month and of course there are priorities like food for the family and car repairs over Wii points. Oh well, I'll try to contact Nintendo directly to see if they can transfer over the points.

I think the only things on Wii that cost fewer than 500 points but more than 0 points are add-on content for certain games.

You can buy only dlc from wiiware games or just dance games.

If you have either of the FF: My Life as a' games you can get some good DLC with that. Otherwise you should try calling Nintendo and seeing if they will do anything for you. I'd just act oblivious to the deadline and pretend the 2019 one is the date you thought you had until.

@McGruber Thanks man and thank to everyone else. I called Nintendo customer support and no go. I did not feel it was worth escalating the problem and talking to a manager about it. $4.00 to lose is not a bad price to pay after seeing all the quality games I was able to get for the service. I might get that DLC for the FF: My Life As.. just because.

On another note, has anyone had any issues backing up their SD card on their Wii? I got a quality SanDisc card but it is always a good idea to back up. After buying over 160 games on the service I want to protect my investment.

You were given plenty of warnings. There's really nothing else that can be said here

Definitely play a little of the Final Fantasy games before deciding which to spend the points on. You have enough to add a few dungeons to MLaaK and a few characters in MLaaDL, assuming you have both.

@Meowpheel Aren't there games that are 300 or 700 points or something like that? As long as there's something that starts with an odd number, you should be able to figure something out, provided you have enough points.

I cannot guarantee you'll end up with the games you want though

@MakeMyBiscuit As far as your SD Card question goes, that's actually quite simple:
Wii SD Card data can be written read and copied on any PC or laptop, so you could just make a 1:1 copy of the entire card to another one, or keep a backup on your computer. Personally, I've made several backups, on my PC, on a USB Stick and I burned a backup to a DVD, so if something happens with either of them, I'll always have a copy left somewhere.

Just stick the SD Card in a card reader, be sure to select ALL the data (some may be hidden, so you might need to make that visible by activating the "show hidden folders" settings in Windows).

So, it's actually pretty straight forward, and you should be able to copy everything on there without any problems whatsoever.

To be fair I almost missed the deadline too. I thought I had until 2019 but noticed a forum post about the points deadline a couple of days before. Surprised none of the gaming / Nintendo sites I visited gave a reminder about it. You’d think the last day of access to one of the best legal retro gaming services to date would be news worthy (at least more so than Mario Happy Meal toys).

Anyway I spent my remaining points getting the rest of the Final Fantasy IV After Years DLC, which took my points count to 0. Most are 100 points each so I was able to complete that. Worth doing if you have the game. Some others with cheap DLC are the Bubble Bobble Plus games, the first Phoenix Wright and Megaman 9.
