Final Fantasy IV. Super Mario RPG doesn't even compare. D:

Only if the question is what's the most overrated RPG on the SNES.
SMRPG is not as funny as people say and I thought the characters were terrible (putting Mario into anything not a platformer is never a plus for me). FFIV isn't that funny either but I really enjoyed it's soap opera story even though it goes off the rails at the end. I'd have to vote FFIV unless you're just really into Donkey Kong Country style graphics.
Now-if you asked me whether someone should get FFIV or Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. I'd have to say PMtTYD obliterates FFIV. It's just hilarious and fun, definitely the Mario RPG to play.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

For me, FFIV. Altogether better (music, graphics, gameplay...). Although, I will say that SMRPG immerses me more into the game, I still like FFIV much more.

Well, I've never played SMRPG, but FFIV was really good for it's time, although the story and graphics don't hold up as well nowadays. The music, however, is excellent. My vote goes to FFIV.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
@JumpMad- Yeah. It's under the title of "Final Fantasy II" though, 'cause that's what they originally called it outside of Japan. (For localization reasons)

But only the American SNES version. Every other version of FFIV is called FFIV.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
because they'd like to weigh in on the topic, i'd imagine.

I've never understood the insane fascination with Super Mario RPG. For some people it's the only game for the SNES they want to play. I played it a bit back in the day and it was solid, even good, but for me the Mario universe just isn't all that interesting especially when the story has to be fleshed out into an RPG. With that said Paper Mario TYD captured my attention for a while and it was quite enjoyable.
