You can only sell items at a shop where they are sold, so if there is a key shop, you should be good, provided they sell those particular keys. It's a shame there isn't a drop option, as that would make much more sense. Selling J keys is generally a waste of time by the time you'd actually want to get rid of them.

Well that's good. I was afraid I'd be stuck with them. I'm heading to the final area now. I'll get rid of those keys in the last town if I can. One more question. Which magic item does the most damage? I assume it's death correct? I want to make sure I'm ready for the final boss.

There's one after Death, I believe. Check Operation Manual in the Home Menu.

I finally beat the game. Pretty good i guess. The last boss was a joke. I sorta expected something harder. I was a little dissapointed by the lame ending. Oh well it was fun while it lasted.

Questionable quote #1: "Don't be negative. Remember your mantra."

Is the mantra thing what the guru says when he asks you to meditate with him? I'm assuming it's the code to continue the game when you quit (luckily me doesn't need codes thanks to the Wii's saving system). In other words: what does the dang Mantra mean? o.o

I'm at the way beginning of the game losing against the first boss. Got mauled by his fireballs since I just stood in front of him and casted Deluge repeatedly. Definitely not a fantastic idea. Will go try to fight him again after I ask around with the villagers for some info.

All in all, I'm thinking it's a good game, though the dark color scheme is messing with my eyes and the jumping mechanic is a bit annoying. No moving in mid-air and falling faster than a brick makes King angry. I also love the fact that they made "gold" plural; it always makes for a good laugh. "Not enough golds!.... stranger."

“The revolution is not an apple that falls when it is ripe. You have to make it fall.” - "Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them."

You got the mantra right. If you're just going to cast deluge repeatedly (which is a good idea), stand as far away as possible. No need to go right in front of him. Should be very easy. I forget if there is high ground to fire from, but if there is, use it so you won't even have to jump.

I made the mistake of trying to jump to dodge the fireballs of those things. It's actually better to stand still and hold your ground while attacking. Of course having a good shield and magic attacks helps too. Don't forget to stock plenty of life potions as well.

I didn't use magic at that point (I don't think I had it) but there is indeed higher ground for all but one incarnation of this enemy that I've encountered so far. If you just stand on the raised areas and repeatedly swing your sword at him, you'll hit him when he flies up at you, and you won't ever get a hit on you.

I'd assume the magic would work as well, but at the very least, just keep swinging your weapon.

I'm still in two minds whether to buy this or not.

I did enjoy Zelda II though.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

@ Bass XO
Most people would agree that Faxanadu is better than Zelda 2. It's a safe bet you'll like it if you enjoyed Adventure of Link.

I definitely disagree with that, and I'm not sure most would say so. They are similar in some ways, but I'd say it has more in common with Simon's Quest (except of course that Faxanadu is not terrible).

I can't say what 500 points is worth to you, but as a huge Zelda 2 fan, I thought it was decent fun for awhile, though with some obvious and annoying flaws (wouldn't be an NES game otherwise), but when I lost progress because they didn't provide a save point in one of the villages, I lost interest.

Zelda 2 comes across as a much more polished experience to me. My biggest complaint about Faxanadu is how tedious it is going from one place to the other, having to restart from your last save every time you die (no checkpoints or lives), losing most of your money when you do die, and then having to rebuy any keys even if you already used them on the same door and tracking down Mattock in some cases when you need to get to one particular area and back. Zelda, however, has lives and let's you restart on the same screen when you die, and when you do game over, getting back to where you are is usually facilitated by whatever most recent item or spell you've found, and all unlocked doors stay that way, thankfully.

I too lost interest in Faxanadu for similar reasons to what Adam describes.

It's by no means a bad game--not even close--but its particular flaws are some seriously irritating ones (see Adam's post and a few others above) that eventually came to outweigh the enjoyment I was getting from it.

I don't regret the purchase, and I may will give it another shot some day, but right now, I'd say comparing this to Zelda II in terms of quality is like comparing Good Burger to the friggin' Godfather.

@Chicken - yeah I know, Good Burger is heaps better,

Anyway, I finally finished this game. It's good, but so many parts of the game feel tedious and haven't ages well. It's no way near as good as Zelda to. I think this game would benefit from an update (or remake if you will) because there are a lot of good ideas in the game.

By the way, as I think somebody mentioned earlier, the final boss is really easy. It's kinda disappointing, considering the previous boss is a lot harder. Plus he was ugly. Real ugly.

Perhaps you should have let him know ahead of time that you were coming over and he could have put on his best dress.

At least a little bit of makeup or something. Just to see that some effort was put in.

Okay, I'll bite: is there a trick to beating the Dwarf King/dragon thing in the Castle of Fraternal? I keep going in with a ton of potions and even went waaay back to the mist area for an elixir, and it all didn't really help any. Using Tilte didn't seem to help, Death uses up my magic almost instantly, and Fire seems to buy me some time knocking the dragon back, but still isn't enough to beat him or as far as I can tell get close by the time I run out of magic. Any suggestions?

Jump and slash when he's swooping down, hit him a couple times on the ground, then repeat.

I'm not sure if I'd necessarily place this game above Zelda II, but I definitely love both games and place them in my top 3 NES games (along with The Guardian Legend).

@Adam: Stop dying.

I'm not supposed to die? Gee wiz, put a spoiler alert before you drop a bomb like that.

For the record, the answer for me was to just fill up my items entirely with red potions, attack with my sword when I can and spam the little deluge spell Mega Man-style. You can get a LOT of hits of deluge in while the dragon/king is flying back upward after spitting its fireballs.

IAmChristinaAguilera

Fuzzy

Even pop stars are playing this game. It must be good.

EDIT: Oh yeah, about that dragon boss. What i did first was fill up on red potions. Then I just "blocked" the fireballs with my shield, and hit it once it flew up. You can get one hit it, maybe 2 or 3 if you time it right. When your energy gets low, use a potion. Kept on doing that and I eventually beat it. I think this boss is the hardest one in the game, but if you have plenty of red potions, you should be fine.
