This is tough i want to get one or the other but it's a tough decision. F-Zero has the novelty, is one of a kind at 800 points. But only 15 tracks and no multiplayer. F-Zero X has much more content and for just 200 points more, but the videos I've seen make it look generic and not too fun.

I've bought both of these on VC in which I had only play F-Zero(SNES) before and I have to say that F-Zero X is much more fun to play. The graphics aren't amazing, but the game is just much more enjoyable. I just can't manage to have much fun with the SNES version anymore.

FZX isn't really generic, and it is indeed fun. If you are looking for multi-player, I'd go with F-Zero X, but if it's single player you want, the original is the best.

F Zero X is great fun. The tracks are very well designed. The limited graphics mean that it's able to run at a very fast and smooth pace. I reccomend it.

Unless multiplayer is really important, go with F-Zero. The gameplay in that is just so intuitive and basically flawless. F-Zero X has a certain clunkyness to it that makes playing it feel more of a chore than entertainment at times. I mean, it's not all bad, but it hasn't aged well.

Get F-Zero X for Death Race alone. It's great after a tough day at work/school etc.

Easily F-Zero X dude! Super-fast violent racing without weapons. And if that isn't enough for ya, the X-Cup's random track generator throws up some absolutely brilliant (and hilariously deadly) tracks.

@Djungleurban: I disagree, I think X has aged well. Having all those racers in a pack is great too. In F-Zero theres only ever a couple on screen at a time. In the end it's all down to your tastes. I've downloaded both and only played F-Zero a couple of times. X however I've played right to the end with the Blue Falcon and still have all the other cars to master.

Random track generator? I'm apparently missing out on a lot. Both the original and X are too hard for me to complete, though I enjoy both a lot.

Helps if you complete games mate but then it sounds like you suck

Desperately hoping for a wii-wheel F-Zero GX alike update at E3.

I have F-Zero X and always have a blast playing it in single player. The sense of speed is really nice. I really need to get the original game and the GBA releases.

Scared of the future, but bored with the past.

The GBA games are pretty good, too. One even has a pretty good track editor, but it's only available in Japan (of course, if you can find a copy and don't mind menus in Japanese, GBA games are region-free).

I have to say F-Zero X. The speed and playability is far better than the SNES game.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

F-Zero X. No multiplayer is a big drawback from the original and for that reason I still haven't purchased it and I probably won't unless I won a contest or someone gifted it to me.

I'm one of those people who prefers F-Zero over F-Zero X. It doesn't have as many options, but what's there is absoutely flawless and just a blast to play.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

I have both, I would go with f-zero X, but prepare for a challenge. It isnt exactly what I would call easy

F-Zero X is still easier IMO than F-Zero GX.

GX does look awesome even in the Wii era but its hella hard.

F-Zero X is a steal at 1,000 points. I own F-Zero GX (the Gamecube version), and must say it feels pretty much the same.

The only version I have is GX, and it's nasty. There's only so long I can play it before I switch to something I have a chance of beating.
