Topic: Example of what is wrong with the VC

For most of you this will be stating the obvious, but when you stop and think about this it is quite ridiculous. I thought this was a pretty good example of the negative impact of Nintendo's 1 VC game a week drought.

Back in April 2008, Interplay announced they were bringing four of thier games to the VC. Here it is June 2009, and we only have three out of the four released! It's been over a year, how is it that they can't get four games released? The game that has yet to be released is Earthworm Jim 2, and I guarantee that it has been sitting in the hatch waiting to be released since last April. This would have been a perfect choice to put up along side a C64 game like Boulder Dash on Monday. Personally, I'm not that interested in EJ2, but I know a lot of people are, and I think it's a little ridiculous that Nintendo couldn't get out all four Interplay games in a year's time.

Ah, it really doesn't bother me anymore. Nintendo is gonna do what Nintendo's gotta do. Even if it does seem they are trying to make fans angry.

That sounds like a heretical statement, do I need to sick the NL Inquisition on you? Repent and slag off Nintendo properly!

I hate to contribute more heresy, but if the Nintendo Channel still has that video where they show all 300 games on the console through Majora's Mask, look at that for some perspective. We have a ton of awesome games available, and I doubt most of you have played them all. I was just thinking about how many games I downloaded just because my favorite games weren't out yet and how much I ended up liking them, especially a bunch of TG16 and Genesis games I was only borderline interested in and got on a whim. As frustrating as this system is, it works for Nintendo's business and it works for the consumers (though obviously not all) even if some won't admit or realize it.

The VC releases are TOO slow! Hurry up,Nintendo! But,I have enjoyed what is on VC so far,so I won't complain much.

Yep, there's at least two titles I plan on getting eventually and probably others I'd like to check out, but I'm mainly hanging onto points to see what new WiiWare stuff is coming that might tempt me (and having just finished Bomberman '93, Bomberman '94 isn't jumping out at me right now...).

I'm just glad that we even have the VC. Which means I don't have to resort downloading the ROM and playing on an emulator on the PC for free

Look I love the VC just as much or more than anyone else. I don't just sit around and complain about it, there are still several games I want that I haven't gotten around to getting yet, and I always defend the VC when other people complain about it or right it off. But this Interplay example really just shows how ridiculously slow they are at releasing their games. More and more people are gonna stop caring about the VC if this continues.

The main problem I have with the VC is that it's been freakin' forever since we've seen any Neo-Geo titles, and most of the best for the system remain untouched.

Yea, I agree. The slow release schedule is not horrible, but the neglect some systems give, especially the Arcade and to a slightly lesser extent the C64 (in the US, anyway) is bizarre.

I agree. If this continues, NOA will think that the Virtual Console was worthless and remove it unexpectantly, just like Cartoon Network did with Toonami.

NOA does not think the VC is pointless. Yes people are complaining about the lack of SMK or SSB64. But Nintendo is doing an OK job on the VC. If no one was downloading anything, they would get rid of the VC.

We did had a huge down pour of NEO-GEO games during last year's summer releases, and I remember lot of folks from VC-Reviews were getting upset with the abundance of those releases. Much I like to see more NEO-GEO games, I really am getting sick of the complete lack of VCA support.

We do need more Neo Geo games. Just no more fighters on the system for now. But what really needs updating is the SMS, C64, and VCA.

Virtual Console Arcade needs some updating now. However, the Commondore 64 is receiving some support, which is good, HOWEVER, the Sega Master System can bear more time without updating after getting Fanasty Zone 2 and Phanasty Star out of the way. Beside, Alex the Kidd In Miracle World, consider to be one of the best titles for the system, is medicoric, so I don't care for the system much.

What really needs good games is the Nintendo 64. I mean, two and a half year and only sixteen titles? Pathetic NOA. It's litterally screaming for new VC games.

I don't think Nintendo's doing bad at all when it comes to 1st party releases. It's quality 3rd party stuff that needs to be released, not one bad VC game a week. I believe NOA knows which games are considered good and which are bad. They just need to get on the ball and release the great games from the big 3rd party publishers.

They need to tack on online features. I don't have people to come over and play with me...

Of course they never will but...I wish...

Haha, but a lot of these games I actually end up liking.
