Topic: Donkey Kong Country pulled from Wii Shop Channel (Update: it's back!)

The orignal Donkey Kong Country is missing, but was there last week along with DKC2 and DCK3 on the SNES page. I just got extra points today and was going to download the original Donkey Kong Country, but I can't find it anywhere. Both DKC2 and DKC3 are still available though.

Was it purposely pulled?

Not sure if pulled in all the region (I'm from USA).

Does it have something to do with the most recent Feb. 16th update?

How can I download it?

This means you can forget DK64 ever coming to VC

There were 72 SNES games last week, and now it's just 71.

@Videojill: If its gone from the Wiishop then no you cant download it unless you have previously bought it but since you said you havent than you're out of luck I am afraid.

Why it was pulled can be anyone's guess it might be licensing issues more then likely. You can always email Nintendo and see what they have to say.

The only thing I can suggest now is if you want it check ebay or some retro stores for a SNES and a copy for the game.

Wow, this sucks! Nintendo is pulling their own games now? Yeah, Wii VC is officially dead.

Adding insult to injury, eh, Nintendo? I like your style.

Why would they do that? Are Microsoft not allowing any of Rare's games to even be available on Nintendo's consoles anymore? I'm glad I already downloaded it. Maybe I should do the same for DKC2 and DKC3 soon even if it won't be a while 'till I play them in case this happens to them too. Then again I haven't checked to see if this did happen in Europe too yet anyway so it might be different here.

I dont know I would think cause it uses Nintendo's characters Nintendo has more rights to the game than Rare.

I was hoping that one day they were going to have DKC as one of the games I could use Club Nintendo coins on guess they wont now.

There have been times where games have not shown up for a day or two and then they show up later, right as rain. Sometimes the Wii Shop hiccups like that. Has anyone thought to get in contact with Nintendo about it? having it gone completely but its sequels remaining in the Shop for purchase sounds odd.

There are no licensing issues around Donkey Kong Country. Nintendo owns the full game. Like dragon said, it's most likely a hiccup.

The original Ghosts N' Goblins for the NES went missing for a time. It re-appeared a few days later. I'm sure this game will return. If they had to pull it they would have removed the entire trilogy.

Yesterday was Donkey Kong Country's 5-year anniversary on the Virtual Console.

Nice! I was eventually going to download DKC for it's nostalgic value. I'm really glad to know I'll still be able to some day.

Well than if its back its probably like TBD and the others have said and it was just a glitch in their system. Glad to know its back now.
