Topic: Donkey Kong 64 rumors!

rumors are circulating that Rareware has given Nintendo permission to release Donkey Kong 64 on the vc!

Why would Nintendo need permission to release a Nintendo game?

I agree but unfortunately, they have to go through Rare. Since Rare was the developer, they have quite a big say with what happens with their N64 games. Luckily, since its Nintendo's IP, they also have a lot of say so it will never end up on XBL like Banjo-Kazooie.

Untill its on the VC thats all its going to be is a rumor. The main reason it wont come to VC is cause of the Jetpack game. It will never be on the VC just accept that and if you want to play it that bad the only thing I can suggest is track down a N64 and a copy of the game.

I don't get why it's such a big deal to get DK 64 on VC over a lousy Jetpac game. It's just a tiny little bonus on the overall package. Then again there's also the Rareware coin to consider. Will they just remove or replace it with something else?

So why did they release Donkey Kong Country games? Aren't Kremlins Rare's creations?

You got that right. I usually don't get sucked into the hype of rumors.
I want facts.

I don't think Rare's logo is a problem. It appears in all 3 of the Country games. I remember seeing something about Rare saying it's up to Nintendo whether or not the game is released. I think Jetpac is the only real issue.

@Faron: Whoever created them, they belong to Nintendo now. They've been featured in several DK games since Rare left.

Cause than they will get people whinning that its not an exactly port and it ruins the nostalgia value of it and blah blah blah.

List a real source (not a forum) or it won't happen.

To be honest, I don't even like DK 64 so I don't know why I bothered butting in here

I remember Donkey Kong 64. I don't think that this rumor is true. If this game was ever going to be re-released on the Virtual console it would have been by now. It would be good if all of the games could be released on the VC without any legal issues. But since Rare is now with that other Videogame corp. DK64 is no going to happen. So I better get another Nintendo 64 and a copy of Donkey Kong 64. If I want to play it again.

I believe Rare said multiple times that it is up to Nintendo to decide whenever or not they want to release Donkey Kong 64. I also remember Rare saying that they had no clue why people think Donkey Kong 64 has licensing issues.

I think it'll come eventually. Maybe not this generation, but maybe the next one.

forget a re-release, we need a sequel! from retro!
