I only have a few select shumps. I suck at the genre as i do first person shooters BUT after a few years i've come to play them alot better, shumps included.

Okay, this seems like the best forum to ask. If I am going to download one vertical shmup would you guys suggest : Soldier Blade or Musha? I've been scanning the reviews and these 2 seem right up my alley. I know Soldier Blade is supposed to have the extra modes like the other Star Soldier games and that really intruiges me, but Musha has those nifty little tag along guys that you kind of control and that seems really kinda cool too. I know my wife will only let me get one, so sadly I have to choose.

Soldier Blade is the only one of the "Super Star Soldier" series that I have and it's a pretty good one; I cannot say I have any experience of Musha, but it also looks excellent. I don't know that you'll go wrong with either choice. You might also consider Star Force, the Tecmo Arcade game. It's decent and pretty cheap too (500pts), plus it has that funky-chunky early 80s look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Zrhxj60glU

Completed all of the Star Soldier series. I would say get Soldier blade.

Musha is a decent game on genesis.

Are you running on a european WII. Dont get Musha if you are. Nevertheless soldier blade is better.

They should release the arcade version of Galaga 88 on the western VCs.

Thanks for all the input! After watching an insane amount of YouTube videos of both games I decided upon Musha and am having one hell of a good time. I will probably try and sneak a copy of Soldier Blade in later(maybe hide it at the far end of my SD card menu) and possibly even Star Force, now that I know about it!
@outrunsp. I am running a NA wii. Inall honesty the end deciding factor is the sad fact that Musha is technically a giant robot type game and I have a silly obsession with giant robots.
