I was wondering this for a long time...Do people nowadays still like shoot-em-up games? I have alot of them on VC, for example..
Life force(NES/FAMI)(or Salamander in japan)
Gradius 2: Gofer No Yabou(PCE/TG-16)
Super Fantazy Zone(GEN/MEGA)
Super Star Soldier(PCE/TG-16)
And Blast works for Wii (plus all four extras)
Now i bought Gradius collection for the PSP, and love it, a day ago i bought Super Stardust portable and R-Type Delta.
Still i am playing shmups on my computer as well.

But as i went to people i knew and i started talking about a few shoot-em-ups, even the ones i don't own and i want to own... but almost all of the person told me that they had never heard of the games, not even asteroid, and i always had to describe them. After that, alot of thme said that they sucked and prefered FPS games. Why does america loves FPS so much? There's too many of them, i'm sick of them....I did saw many shoot-em-ups on VC that i want....but people don't want them... that includes my brother, because all he thinks shmups are is that they are "repetetive" and "all the same" which is false. I do not know many people who still likes shoot-em-ups nowadays. i just wonder, do people still like shoot-em-ups? Or is it really the end for the genre?...

Of course I like shmups. Why do you think Star Parodier and Detana TwinBee! rank at the top of my list? :)

Well, judging from some reviews...I'd better stop before I ramble on and give the wrong idea. Either way, how about you...ask him?

Hmmm, you could summon him in many ways (as long as he's not busy). You could ask him directly through here, or...yeah, that's all I got.

I like them but suck at them, thus I don't play them too much.

I beat Blastworks today (on rookie ...), twas pretty good.

I only have Soldier Blade, and Lords of Thunder on the VC. Both of which are awesome, but I suck at them :(

I haven't played these kind of games for ages until I got my Wii and saw how many great shooters there are on the VC. So far I've only downloaded Blazing Lasers and MUSHA, but like the two previous posters mention, these games are not at all easy. So these two provide plenty of challenge for me at the moment.

I am mostly in to vertical scrollers, but I must admit that Gate/Lords of Thunder looks very interesting :)

Currently (mostly) playing: Phantasy Star IV, Zelda: A Link to the Past, Guitar Hero

I do enjoy them, but the home console ports usually leave me cold -- arcade originals for me! My enjoyment of the genre generally is borne out by the fact that two of my North American imports are Ultimate Shooting Collection and Castle of Shikigami III!
