Topic: Chrono Trigger is maybe the best game I've ever played (so far)

So I've recently gotten into downloading old Nintendo games from VC, as well as buying a lot on amazon (Banjo Kazooie, etc) that I never got around to playing or was too young to enjoy. I'm 20 but for some reason I love playing older, classic games than the newest CoD . Hey, I like the charm =p

Anyways, I finally downloaded Chrono Trigger, which for years I've read is one of the best SNES games, and also one of the best RPG games of all time. I am not even half way through it, and I honestly have to say that I cannot remember the last time I enjoyed a game as much as this. I'm serious. I'm a lite role player, and tend to shy away from the hardcore ones, which is a big reason why I love Chrono. The music, graphics, story, is all amazing and I can't wait to finish it.

Any love for Chrono Trigger??

Also what Nintendo RPGs would I like if I like this game? I basically have every system by Nintendo, so shoot...

Yeah Earthbound is amazing, but good luck finding a copy for a reasonable price

I'm not really into RPGs, but I plan to get this one soon. (I better make it a high priority, since we never know when something will just be dropped from the virtual console!)

Chrono Trigger doesn't require any grinding, does it?

It's pretty much the best game ever made, yeah.

Wow, another gamer who play classic games, boy did you come to the wrong site.
We only play games of today, none of this old pixel junk, go play call of duity like a real gamer.

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

A "real gamer" plays old and new games
They also play multiple gaming genres
And you spelled duty wrong

It is a really great game ahead of it's time storywise. Not my favorite game although it's pretty high up there, but it's a game I can recommend to anyone. It is indeed my favorite North American box art of any game ever made, I have like 2 posters of that cover.

Chrono Trigger is one of those games that I always assumed was just overhyped by fanboys. I saw videos, heard some of the music, didn't get it really. And at first it was kinda meh but once it got to Magus Castle I was hooked and never looked back. It basically perfected the pre-cutscene heavy JRPG while still doing some new stuff for the time and all of it works so well. The combat is simple yet shockingly engaging, the story and characters are compelling without overdoing it or wasting a lot of time, the soundtrack is largely fantastic. I mean, there's at least a couple of games I think are better (Xenoblade, Mother 3) and a few I like more (Golden Sun, Paper Mario) but it's genuinely as good as people say it has. Also, it's easily the best example of the many JRPGs where the last 1/3 is largely sidequests.

If you haven't played Chrono Trigger (especially if you were already awesome enough to buy Xenoblade), get it. It's amazing. My brother isn't even a JRPG fan, like, at all, and he loved the game.

I have played some many different RPG's and Chrono Trigger was the first that got me into RPG"s and it is still the best I have played 11/10 in my book.

Spoilers Giant alien porcupine crashes deep in your planet and proceeds to om nom on your world? End Spoilers Well I guess that's as good an excuse for a game as any, but I still say Zombies Ate My Neighbors has the better story.

Final Fantasy III and Final Fantasy II (SNES VC) are the next logical choices if you liked Chrono Trigger.

...in my pants.

Yeah, the only really weak part of CT is its story and characters. Still, when I played it it was more or less my first time-traveling story, so it pretty much blew my mind at the time.

Chrono Trigger is a good game. But my fav is Secret of Mana.....have you played that game before? It's awesome!

It's one of the best RPGs ever made. Radiant Historia and Xenoblade Chronicles are just as good if not better than it though.

I hope you're just trolling, because I feel sorry and embarrassed for you it you weren't.

I definitely have to get Xenoblade Chronicles. I've never heard of Radiant History, and I have FFIII for SNES but for some reason I haven't played it in a long time. I always hear that Earthbound is good but I can't believe the prices people are asking for it online! And I never see it in any used game shop..

Import Mother 1 + 2 on GBA. I did and it only cost me 30 bucks on ebay new and sealed. You have to teach yourself a little kana, but it's worth it.

I've NEVER touched this game. Ever. Should I buy it tomorrow if I get a wii point card?
