Topic: Any chance we'll see Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals?

I'd really love to see this released on the Virtual Console, though I have no idea what the chances of that happening are like. Taito published it in Japan, Nintendo published it in EU, and Natsume published it here in the US. Natsume recently released Moki Moki for WiiWare, so they are active on the Wii Shop. I was just wondering if there's any chance one of those companies could release it.

From the looks of it, it looks very likely in all regions.

Sure hope so,I've only played the beggining on a emulator,but it seemed like a good game.

If it was published by three different companies, who owns the rights to the game now?

If they DO release it on VC, I hope we get the European version that fixed a horribly bugged dungeon. It would be total BS if they released it only to be the gimped version again.

Yes, perhaps sometime after the original gets released(although I'd rather get the DS remake that's coming out in Japan, it looks real sweet!)

DS remake? First I've heard...I hope it releases here, too!

Oh wait a minute! It's not a remake, but a full-fledged sequel made by the developers on the original! Now I'm double interested in it, as well as VC releases of its predecessors.

Here's hoping. Cartridge is awfully expensive nowadays.

Where'd you hear it's NOT a remake? I just did a little online research and read that it IS a remake of Lufia 2, and they turned it into a 3D action-RPG! My grin turned upside-down in a hurry, 'cause that sounds AWFUL!

...Wikipedia. Then I checked again, and realized it was a remake. As for the change to an action RPG, that's a big plus for me! Plus, that;ll mean the original will be different enough for me to enjoy if I ever get around to it.

I LOVE the original Lufia 2, and cannot imagine replacing the battle system like that could possibly be a good idea. Plus, they'd have to change level designs drastically...pretty much, the game may be more BASED on Lufia 2 (story-wise) than a proper remake.

When you first said DS remake, I was REALLY hoping for something along the lines of the treatment Chrono Trigger got. THAT would have been exciting to me. This just looks horrible, IMO.

Plus side of this news: We now know who owns the Lufia rights. Taito was the original owner, meaning that Squenix now has the rights. That does nothing to raises my hopes of a proper VC release.

Then perhaps it is a sequel? Who knows.

Reviewers of Lufia II keep recommending to play Lufia II before Lufia I.
Maybe Square-Enix will release Lufia II first?

@Mickeymac: I sure don't know...but I DO know that I find the lack of positive information to suggest it's a new game and not a remake distressing.

@StarBoy: They would, since Lufia 2 is actually a Prequel anyway. I did...just because for some odd reason, Lufia 2 is the only one of the two my dad ever bought. I got the first one years later.

Well, according to one article, it'll be a brand new game. The action-RPG thing appears to be unconfirmed, according to that source.

Nvm, according to a more reliable source, it is an action-RPG and a remake. Pretty weird, but whatev'. I just hope it's good. Looking at this trailer, I'm pretty convinced it will be!

Yeah, that article is too old. More recent news takes priority on the believability scale.

Even if it IS good, I'm not sure I could bring myself to like it due to my love of the original. I guess I'll need more info, but I'm not optimistic at current.
