Nostalgia, it can be cruel. So after ages of fond memories you start a game, only to find it archaic and clunky. Or maybe youve never played it, just think its good, and it has exactly the same problems. This forum is about those games.

Pokemon Red/Blue. As much fun as they were (and still are) it's pretty painful to play them nowadays.

Just a personal thing, but when I was younger I didn't know any better and bought lots of licensed games which I'm now mostly embarrassed to even own :(

I thought they were the bomb back in the day, but then again I didn't really have any comparison points.

edit: oh wait, this is a virtual console thread. In which case, the original Final Fantasy! After Dawn of Souls, one never goes back I'm afraid

I know what you mean. They seemed good at the time, but later, not so much.
PS I think it's kinda funny that everyone who has commented on this thread so far has a Pokemon avatar. :)

Streets of Rage 1. Loved it as a kid, but boy is it stiff compared to SoR2.

Super Mario 64 could use a better camera, too.

I agree with the guy above me, time was not kind to Golden Axe.

Sonic Adventure needs a remake something fierce, but at after Sonic '06, I think it's better if they just leave it alone.

Donkey Kong Country is nowhere near as impressive as it used to be, at least in terms of graphics and level design.

Super Smash Bros. still has the best balance and stages, but holy crap was it stiff and relatively unresponsive. And Ugly, too.

Mortal Kombat...don't even get me started.

If a game is clunky, I can tell right away. It doesn't take me years to figure it out.

If PlayStation was on the VC no doubt we'd all have our own huge list of clunky games.

Most N64/PS1 games I didn't play at the time sort of are hard to go back to. As are most pre-NES console games.

But to choose one game, probably Mario Kart 64.

I quite enjoyed it being a 3DS Ambassador, but I wouldn't want to pay for it.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

Ocarina of Time. What a horrid mess of a game - I can't believe people go on about it so much.

I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.
