I just have activated my club nintendo account, and was wondering if our vc downloads contribute anything to those wonderful golden coins Im trying to accrue. Basically Ive spent a ridiculous, sickening amount of money on VC and id be so awesome to get a mario golden pin for it lol.
Well thats pretty nice actually. How do I register them?
Well when I started my account (back when the service first started), I sent them an email regarding my vc and wiiware collection. I think they wanted the wii number and the club nintendo account name, and soon afterwards there was a big list of my vc and wiiware games that had surveys to be filled out to get the coins.
Now however, they may show up automatically once you register your wii on your Club Nintendo account. Not sure...
it starts once you registered your wii yeah i would have like 2000 points
it's supposed to be retroactive, mecoy -- when you link your Wii to your CN account, your eligible WiiWare/VC games are supposed to show up in your account as having been purchased. If that didn't happen for you, either your games were ineligible for post-play surveys or you need to get in contact with CN's Support in order to get your surveys and points. :3

Oooh Oooooh! I know the answer to this!!! I had to go through this too. When you link the account it doesn't register what you already have, you have to call Nintendo 1800-255-3700 follow the directions and have someone manually register the games. It helps it you have a list of them with you at the time.
that's weird, SuperPeach -- mine registered everything i already had just fine. it took a full day as i recall, but all my games are present and accounted for. :3

As far as I recall it only gives you surveys to earn coins for games that were released after Dec 08, so you need to check the release date to know whether you can earn coins for a game or not. All of my VC purchases were from before that, so I didn't get coins for any of them even after I linked my account and got my previous downloads retroactively registered to my Club Nintendo account.
@iphys: it depends on the games -- there were a select few eligible games that were released before December of '08. there's a list in the CN FAQ.

Looks like if you look at the list of exceptions from before Dec 08 it's all the Wii Shop titles released between Oct 13, 2008, to Dec 2008, so the true cutoff date for Wii Shop titles is only games released Oct 13, 2008, or later qualify for surveys/coins.
Has anyone been having problems with VC post-play surveys not showing up?
I haven't logged in to my Club Nintendo account in a long time, because I've been waiting to register my games until I knew I'd be eligible for Elite status for the year. I just got a bunch of Wii games for Christmas, and so I was registering them earlier today. I also had some post-play surveys to do, including one VC game, Majora's Mask. So I did that, but then I was looking at my Registered Products list and noticed several other VC games I've downloaded are on that list but don't have surveys available. The date I registered Majora's Mask was 5/19/2009, and I have games that are listed as "registered" both before and after that date, including one from just a month ago, so my Club Nintendo account is obviously still connected to my Wii Shop account, but it looks like the only other game that ever had a post-play survey for it was Zombies Ate My Neighbors. Included in my list of "registered" games that never had a survey available is Ocarina of Time, which is why I find this really bizarre, since it seems to have discriminated against one of my Zelda games but not the other, heh. Has anyone had this problem and have a solution I could try?
the solution is to contact Nintendo. if surveys for games you've purchased aren't showing up in your to-do list, you must contact Nintendo and let them know... they'll take care of it for you. :3

I wish I knew of this years ago....a third of my collection doesn't come up on my profile.
I know they won't let you register two of the same game though.
@Starlight: indeed. to get around that, though, just make your account a 'family' account or whatever and have another username for any duplicate games and systems you happen to purchase. :3

Cool, thanks for that piece of info...but I have lost my Wii Sports vouchers since. (given to me by members of family) :S
Not sure if this is also US included, but you can link your account to the Wii so it recognises the codes when you do buy them from the internet...you possibly have those but just making sure in case.

Ocarina of Time was released before Dec. 2008 (and isn't on the exceptions list), so it doesn't get a survey. Majora's Mask was released after Dec. 2008, so it does get a survey.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

Why are my Coins listed with an expiration date? Unredeemed Coins will expire two (2) full Club Nintendo years (July 1 - June 30), plus whatever is left in the current Club Nintendo year, after they are earned. Example: Coins earned in March 2009 would not expire until June 30, 2011.
