1. Japanese Wii in the UK

Hi there! I am flying over to Japan in less than a month and I thought of buying a Wii over there but after reading many webpages and forums about the region problems I am not sure now if it would be a good idea. Could anybody please advice me? The idea is to buy the console and two controllers plus a couple of games. Would I be able to use them all in the UK? Can I then play UK purchased games on my Japanese Wii? I found the prices really appealing in Japan but maybe it's not worth the risk of not being able to use it in the UK at all or maybe speding a lot more money on some sort of adaptors...
I know maybe many people have already ask this question but I would really appreciate if somebody could answer me as I am a total ignorant when it turns to consoles and games.... Thank you!!

Personally, i wouldn't buy a wii in japan because only japanese games would work on it, so i suggest that you only buy japanese games while you'e there and then bring them back in the UK and buy the wii freeloader along with the system.

Currently Playing: Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Naruto: Clash of Ninja Revolution, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Pri.., Super Mario Galaxy, Star Fox Adventures, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Sonic and the Secret Rings, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2

i would just buy all the games that came out earlier in japan than here, like mario kart wii. There really is no point in buying a japanese wii anyways because only japanese games would work on it. and getting the wii freeloader is just a waste of money.

I am a hardcore gamer.

Currently Playing: Star Fox: Assault, Mario Kart Wii, No More Heroes, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Pri.., Metroid Prime: Hunters, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Pokemon Diamond & Pearl, MechAssault: Phantom War, Geist

To use a Japanese Wii in the UK, you will need a NTSC compatible tv (most tv's bought within the last 10 years should do this!) and a stepdown convertor that changes our 240v power supply into 120v.

Controllers and things like that will work from here or Japan or America for that matter.

As for games, you will only be able to play Japanese games on a Japanese wii, without using the Wii Freeloader (if it works at all!) You can't play UK games on the JPN Wii or JPN games on a UK Wii out of the box.

It's worth it if you want to play games earlier than they are released over here, and you are happy with games containing strange symbols instead of the alphabet!

Hope that's useful!
