Going to take a chance with a "lightly scratched" CD of In the Hunt PS1.
I remember playing the original arcade machine at the pizza place when I was a kid. Looks like it's getting to be a pricey game, so I figure I should take what I can get, or I wouldn't bother unless it was "mint". Saw a cheap boxed copy on ebay but I passed as "water damage manual" and lots of box damage is a bit below my comfort for disc games.
Musya for the SNES seems to have shot up lately so I also ordered a yellowed SFC cart while I can still find it cheap. Even though it doesn't seem like the game is that great anyways.
Super Star Wars Return of the Jedi on SNES, i never got these games when i was younger because my parents HATE Star Wars so there was no Star Wars in the house of any shape and it wasn't until The Phantom Menace came out and i was old enough to pay for myself that i was able finally watch them
"I pity you. You just don't get it at all...there's not a thing I don't cherish!"
"Now! This is it! Now is the time to choose! Die and be free of pain or live and fight your sorrow! Now is the time to shape your stories! Your fate is in your hands!
Okay, so being motivated by the countless nights I've been watching Tom and Jerry on Boomerang (the good ones; and by "good ones" I of course mean '40s/'50s Hanna-Barbera and Chuck Jones, everything else is either meh, bad, or crap) helped me decide what my next SNES game should be. Of course, who doesn't like Tom and Jerry? ......well, aside from people who don't like Tom and Jerry (cough Gene Deitch hack)
Anyway, Tom and Jerry on the SNES is my newest Nintendo 16-bit game and... I've no idea how to feel about it It's... all right, I guess? I haven't gone far, but it's ... ummm. But then, I just got this game, maybe the more I play it my thoughts on it will improve... he says hopingly
At the London Gaming Market I picked up. Gyromite (unboxed), Ikair Warriors (complete) and NeoGeo Pocket Charger (Complete).
I also picked up some eReader sets. Tennis, Urban Champions, Mario Bros, Excitebike, Pinball, Donkey Kong & Ice Climber were already opened packs. Ballon Fight, Clu Clu Land & Golf all still sealed.

To each their own
I rented that a few times when I was a kid. I remember it was enjoyable but very average. Nothing to get too excited about, but it's not like LJN or THQ licensed crap either.
I guess what's getting to me about SNES Tom and Jerry is its aesthetic qualities. Gameplay-wise it's fine (up until the bouncing mechanics where proper timing is key otherwise you risk falling offscreen), but I have very mixed feelings about Riedel Software's color choices (gaudy pink curtain in the Tom holding a film reel stage preparation screen, for instance? Ugh! And I'm sorry, Tom is supposed to have green eyes, not cyan; 0 stars! ), and the music is just... uninspired. The Tom and Jerry theme has been converted okay enough, but the other songs range from highly underwritten to a bit obnoxious (and jarringly the cue for when Jerry loses a life is LOUDER than all the music combined). I've played worse licensed titles that had better visuals and/or music.
SNES Tom and Jerry verdict time:
What a flatly uninspired and short platformer, and based on what was once a legitimately great series by Hanna-Barbera (before it got butchered by Gene Deitch and reinvigorated to reasonably good quality by Chuck Jones), no less. While Jerry (or Tuffy) controls fine, the only downside is that the up button needs to be used far and often to gain high altitude (especially in the kitchen segment) as opposed to, you know, do some running in order to gain said altitude; oh, and it only has one continue, so boo that. The visuals are somewhat hit and miss (which may attribute to the detail in certain areas; though I did get a kick at how the billboard in the foray stage had the words "Tom and Jerry the Movie" in it, makes me wonder if Riedel Software planned to advertise the movie during the making of it), as some colors might work while others were chosen in questionable taste; and the music's limited usage sounds flat and sometimes grating, which is not a good thing as music is one of the main reasons one feels motivated to play to the very end. I felt Tom and Jerry on the Nintendo 16-bit was far too average, but at least it's playable and not a painfully unfunny and awkward Gene Deitch-incarnated episode, which doesn't say much.
I don't think Super Adventure Island is a good game personally speaking (it too is average due in large part to the lack of design, but at least it had good aesthetics), but Riedel Software's Tom and Jerry honestly made me want to play it again, and believe me: Master Higgins' Nintendo 16-bit debut is not a platformer I find myself pining for or wanting to go back and revisit on a regular basis
I found Star Wars: X-Wing, Star Wars: TIE Fighter, and Wing Commander 2 the other day at a garage sale for $2 each. Both Star Wars games were CIB.
They made me remember why I love Star Wars, and why I hate old-school PC DRM. I was fed up of going back to the manual every time I started the game, so I went full retro and wrote a cheat-sheet for all the possible combinations.

I could've told you Super Adventure Island was average. In 1992, when it was on of the first SNES game I had ever played (and SNES was my first console). I think I had played SMW, SimCity, Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts, Lemmings and F-Zero. And maybe just a bit of Contra III. I only owned the first two, had rented the others. And I can only remember playing Contra III, by that point, once or twice on the demo console at Target (yes, I know that's a bit of strange game to put on display).
Kind of amazing I ever played the other, better Adventure Island games.
I remember I first rented Super Buster Bros. because I expected it to involve Buster Bunny (because you know, Tiny Toons was THE ****! at that time in kids cartoons ), and it was not but still a great game (though the TTA game was also because that was the time when Konami could take almost any license and turn a good game out of it).
I ordered a loose copy of Raiden Project for PS1.
Game seems to have gone down a little in price. (~$30 loose, didn't it used to be like $50?)
I doubt it's due to copy-protection on the arcade version of Raiden II only being broken last year (21 years after release, but that's probably nothing unusual in that scene), though.

HEY KIDS! It's time once again for a long-overdue installment of THE SHPYDARHAULTM! The following items have been picked up over the past several weeks (months?), but i've been too lazy to throw up a post. Despite popular misconception, i am still here at NL, and always will be (the immortal tag-team of @the_Shpydar and @ogo79 will never be destroyed and shall outlive all n00bs and younglings)!
So buckle up and strap in (or strap on, if you're a lady folk who's into that sorta thing), and enjoy the show!
.
Atari Flashback 5 - I honestly had no intention of buying this thing. It's an emulated system (unlike the Flashback 2 which is a genuine 2600-on-a-chip), and honestly, i don't like it despite the crapton of games included. The controller is a bad copy, and the emulation is flawed. The only reason i bought it is because i went drunken-Walmarting and as i was looking at DVDs, i turned around and it was sitting on a clearance table. Meh.
.
Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge (GBA), Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World (GBA) & Super Princess Peach (DS) - I picked these up when i was on a platformer kick a while ago. All great games. Super Princess Peach was a great surprise, and i would love to see a sequel.
.
These are my Black Friday pickups from the retro shop. A nice selection and a good bundled price because i am the awesome guy known to all the employees as "the ET guy!"
Crystal Castles (Atari 2600), Jr. Pac-Man (Atari 2600), Phoenix (Atari 2600) - Some Atari pick-ups, because goodness. I only realized when i got home that i already had a copy of Phoenix, but as it is one of my favorite (or possible most favorite) Space Inavders type clones, i didn't mind getting a dupe (especially since it was a (insert Pat Contri voice here) "label upgrade!")
P.O.W. Prisoners of War(NES) & Metal Gear (NES) - The original Metal Gear is definiely one of my all time fave NES games, and playing through it again was bliss. Meanwhile, POW was an an excellent fave of mine in the arcades, and the NES port is extremely well done.
Natsume Championship Wrestling(SNES) - Got this just because i wanted a new cool wrestling game. It's good, not great, but good.
Castlevania Bloodlines (repro cart) (Genesis) - I mentioned this game elsewhere, and since the retro shop has some repro carts, i decided to snag this one (and yes @Tasuki, to respond to your post elsewhere, while i could play this using my Magic Wii (TM), i prefer to have a cart version).
.
Final Fantasy III (DS), Dragon Quest VI (DS) & Dragon Quest IX (DS) - Honestly, i only really wanted to get DQVI. I had previously owned DQIX but traded it in (it just lacked something, IMO), and FFIII doesn't draw me ... but this was a 3-game bundle that i threw a bid in and barely expected to win. So when i actually did, i was cool with it, since they are all good games!
So ... tune in next time for the next exciting episode of the ShpydarhaulTM! In the meantime, send all your Miller Lite and cute brunette Canadian girls to: the Shpydar, c/o The Daily Bugle, Earth-616.
@the_shpydar: Lol it was the Castlevania thread and yes I totally understand where you are coming from. I have an OUYA that I use for "magic" and played Bloodlines that way but dang it I now find myself looking for a cartridge for a reasonable price.
