Well, even if it's censored on the SNES, I heard the Genesis version only has two of the four characters and only half the levels. (while the SNES has them all) Anyone know if that's true?

I ordered Sumo Fighter for the Game Boy.
Well, it's a platformer, and it's made by KID (who made several NES games like the GI Joes, Burai Fighter and KickMaster). So I hope it's good.

Awhile ago, I ordered Batman: The Animated Series for Game Boy. Ordered it from some site called Gary Aldair or something like that. Never got it, dude didn't respond when requested for shipping update (just a repost of what I could already see by visiting the Google Wallet site.) Don't know if anyone's familiar if I can get Google to refund it, or am I out my $9? :(
(unfortunately, while these things don't happen often, it's why I'm sometimes thinking it's better to pay more on ebay where you can usually report these kind of scammers who take your money and never reply) (and why I bought a second copy from a more reputable ebay seller, which did come.)

@Ryno: Whoa looks like you are going to have one Konami meltdown there lol. I never played Sunset Riders before but I do remember seeing it on the shelf at the local video store during my mullet wearing days. Batman Returns is such an awesome game. To me right there is the best video game movie tie in every made. Everything was just great in that game especially the Danny Elfman soundtrack that they used. Before the Arkham series came out that was my favorite Batman video. Damn now I am going to have to play my copy tonight.

I had also placed another order yesterday, Jajamaru Ninpouchou. While there is an English ROM available for this RPG called Taro's Quest, it is an incomplete translation and I hear that it has many game-breaking bugs (that would've probably been fixed if it had been finished). So, guess I should try to play through the original. :) Got one with the box and instructions and possibly a map.

thats true, the snes version is closer to the arcade version. the genesis version has different levels and bonus levels
taros quest is very broken. its still being sold as a repro cart however.

I'd guess Dragon Wars as well? (a port of an Apple (II? Mac?) first-person RPG)
Released on Famicom, but the dumped NES proto even has a crash bug at the beginning of the game. :P

Another bad repro was Spy vs. Spy 2. Someone started selling a repro that turned out to be a ROM hack of the Famicom version. A few days later an actual NES proto turned up with some minute differences in the title (I forget what exactly, some minor text difference or positioning on the screen or something like that). I haven't played the game, but wasn't the title screen practically the only Japanese text in the game anyways?

What I'm wondering is why the Claymated Mega Man on the cover of that Nintendo Power issue has no body. Pretty awesome actually! :p I love it how Nintendo Power whipped out whatever they felt like doing even if their artwork didn't perfectly ressemble the characters themselves. That's what i loved about Captain N: The Game Master for example, the characters for the most part were so over the top, bizzare and different from their videogamecounter parts that it made me love the show even more. Nowadays, kids complain and snub that kind of stuff off because it's not 100% identicle...It's like open your mind to something different, because Captain N is truly one of the best cartoons imo of that decade.

And Vol 7 was your first issue? Nice! What are the odds? lol I didn't have a Nintendo Power subscription growing up, instead i had Gamepro(remember GamePro TV? :D) My best friend however had a NP subscription and i'd always be at his place reading and enjoying the hell out of every single one of them. B-)

@Ryrobin
Holy Batman! that's a lot of Shiny CIB's. B-) Isn't Batman Returns the wholy grail of Super Hero Beat em ups, even outdoing the Chuck E Cheese favorite X-Men? I remember my friend renting it back in early 90's la la land, but i only played maybe 10 minutes of it sadly. Instead TMNT IV: Turtles in Time, Streets of Rage and Final Fight took centre stage when it came to 16-bit Sprite bashing, slashing and mega mashing!. :p Anyways, I've always been interested in checking out BM Returns, and Super Double D especially as far as the 16-bit beatem up genre goes and hopefully i'll get around to them soon. But i still have Double D II and the dreaded III to tackle.

And ahhh, Mystical Ninja i do indeed have Fuzzy & fond memories of that little trinket of Ancient totaly toobular. Really though, i've always been 50/50 on the entire experience. the Side scroller based stages and Over the top bosses are pretty great, but the over head-ish Town portions of the experience where you need to collect items, food, and grind like a Guts Man garbage truck draged down the game quite a bitty'. And I still can't beat the final boss...Hell, i would problably have more motivation to, but i cant be bothered to navigate through those bloopin' towns ever again. :p

And i would gladly take Batman on the NES and Batman Returns for the SNES over both of the recent Arkham Batmans. I see the greatness, but I'm just not having any fun with them...The beatem up gameplay feels mindless, button mashy and way too easy....Especially in comparison to something as brilliantly fine tuned, far more skill oriented and kinetic like Devil May Cry. Then again, Batman never really had any trouble taking out thugs so maybe it IS supposed to be easy as Pokemon Pie...But then why are the bosses so ridiuclously easy? lol

Actually, this came with a 2nd NES I bought and i had to have it seeing as how these stickers seem to be only available with certain 'complete' Nintendo power issues or if you luck out and find Nes controllers with the stickers alraedy on them with the console bundled on eBay, which is how i got it obviously hehe. Oh, and that Surfed out 1988 California Raisin is another most recent retro buy i snagged as of late. Don't get too excited. :p More to come!

@Wavester: Yep Vol 7. was my first issue of NP I later on got the first issue with the totally radical clay Mario on the cover from a garage sale some years later. I had a constant sub from Vol.7 up to the N64 era. My sub ended than and I was moving and low on cash at the time so I didnt renew it plus during that stage in my life I was more impressed with the PS than Nintendo. Unfortunately all my issues except for the first issue with the clay Mario, the 50th issue that covered Link's Awakening and the 100th issue is all I have left, all of the others fell apart due to how much I read them.

I don't know if its the same but I remember a show called Game Pro that was hosted by a dude named J.D. Roth that would talk about game secrets and all that jazz that was one of my must see Saturday morning shows. Yep sitting in front of the tv stuffing your face with cereal on a Saturday morning was so great. God those were the days.

And nice purchase on the controller stickers dude. I remember getting those stickers and putting them on my NES controllers in fact the NES controller still has well the remnants of one to this day lol.

Also have to say that is one happening Michelangelo you have there too. That is totally an 80's meltdown there man. Just seeing that stuff makes me want to run down to my barber have him give me a mullet. :D

Think I will go on a little retro binge tonight and pop in some classic TMNT cartoons while I guzzle down a case of Crystal Pepsi. YEAAAAAH BUDDY!!!

about 6 days ago the repro cart turned up here: http://www.gamereproductions.com/index.php?dispatch=products.... and i think youre right about the title screen being the only japanese text in the game.
@BayCraig100
ive been messing with lukie games for over 3 years now, there pretty good about things, only thing with them is that they dont show you the actual game youre getting for people with condition interests. one time they sent me a busted rf adapter for my top loading nes, i called them and they sent me another one for free, but it took months to get it. i didnt care because i had another one. thats the only time i had problems.

@KingMike: Here is a cool write up on the comparison of the SNES & Genesis versions of Sunset Riders. It's interesting that Konami frequently made different versions of games for the two consoles. But that sucks man, I don't know about getting a refund from Google Wallet. Paypal is good about getting you a refund which I have needed to use twice and both from Ebay sellers.

@Tasuki: You are so lucky you still have all your orld games instead of buying them again!

@Wavebros 2: Are the Turtles super heroes? If so Batman Returns is second best behind TMNT IV. As for Mystical Ninja, I think it it's either a love it or hate it type of game. I happen to consider it a unique gem but then again I liked Actraiser and you didn't . Chillin' in towns within video games are not your thing; you are all about Action Jackson. :P Is that an actual picture inside the Waveboy beach bungalow and of some of the awesome 80's collection? If I had some spare controllers I would rock the Nintendo Power stickers but as of now I only have 2 so I am keeping them OG.

Just got Thunder Force II for $5 complete at a retro store. Not a bad price, but I actually would've prefered it without the box. These things take up so much space. As for the game itself, I hear it's okay. I'm not expecting much, at least.

What I am most happy about is that I just won Lightning Force on ebay for under $20. I hear it's the best in the series, and I hope it meets my expectations. It's coming from the next state over, so I hope it arrives by Friday.

I'm now watching an eBay listing of Thunder Force III, which is also supposed to be pretty good. I hope it doesn't get too expensive.

Doesn't talk about games.

Found a complete copy of Shadow of the Ninja for a decent price. Some many know it as the original SOTN before a time when video games were abbreviated. My quest to collect the Ninja games is one stealth move closer to coming to fruition!. B-)

Joe & Mac for the NES. The box is pretty rare. Certainly not the best game there is but at least there are dinosaurs in it. Plus you save bodacious cave babes like the one on the cover! :D

@Ryno: HAHA yeah I am lucky that I held on to a few gems. Don't get me wrong I did sell alot of my NES games but my top favorites I held on to which I find extreme lucky cause some of them would have cost me a fortune to rebuy now. Stuff like Earthbound and Chip N Dale 2 just to name a few. Nice purchase on the Joe and Mac. I never played the NES version but I did enjoy the SNES version especially with another player. Thats one of the games that I never owned but wish I did. Let me know if that NES version is just as rockin as the SNES version.
