First for me was the Game Boy Color, with Pokémon RBY, and later on Pokémon Gold and Silver. Also other games, including the three Zeldas, Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, Wario Land and Rayman. My purple GBC doesn't work right any more (Start button doesn't properly work), but I still have a green one which works fine.
My first home console was... the Mega Drive. It was given as a gift from a friend who "didn't need it any more" as he had recently got a PlayStation. Hooray! Sonic 1 and 2 came with it, and that's all we really played on it. We never bought any new Mega Drive games back then, we never thought we'd ever need anything that wasn't Sonic. We were ignorant kids who never considered it, with parents who were not used to buying home console games for us. So, we never got new ones.
After that, a loooong time passed of not getting anything other than handhelds. And I was blissfully unaware of what I was missing. GBA and DS were great and I got 'em as they came. Castlevania CotM and Golden Sun were some of the first GBA games, and still two of my favourites. Also got A Link to the Past, Sonic Advance and lots of other stuff for it. I'd bring my GBA wherever I went. I honestly think the GBA is one of the best ever game-playing machines ever built.
But it wasn't until the Wii had we picked up another home console. When we got it, it was all exciting and new. Twilight Princess was my first 3D Zelda, and we also got all the games that were popular back then when the Wii was newish (WarioWare, Eledees, Wii Play etc.) The Virtual Console (and also various videos and articles on the Internet) had piqued an interest in me for the older games. I was so excited when Super Mario World was released on the VC. At this point I was also eBaying GameCube games to play. This thing was compatible, so why not? Got the best ones such as Sunshine, Paper Mario, Pikmin etc.
Skip a head some time later, and what happens... On my 18th birthday, what am I given? A SNES. A modded one, too, which allows it to play foreign games. And it even came with a foreign game, EARTHBOUND! Best birthday gift ever.
And now, it's now. This retrogaming interest has evolved tenfold, and I've now got a NES, N64, PS2 and GCN (for the Game Boy Player). I've also dusted off the Mega Drive and started eBaying games for it, too. I love me some retroey goodness now. The Internet is filled with knowledge of old games.
Of course, I played the classics such as Ocarina, Sunshine and Kirby well after they initially were released, but I still love them all the same.
My first system was a Game Boy Advance I got for Christmas when I was five. I don't remember what games it came with though. 3 years later I got a ps2 with Everywhere Road Trip, Ford Racing 3, and one of the harry potter games. I got a Wii a few years later, which started my retro game love. So i bought an N64, ps1, genesis, and most recently a dreamcast.
cant remember the name but first thing in our house was one of those ones that had pong also had a gun with it then was on to the good old spectrum then Atari 2600 and 7800. Nes, Snes, N64, Playstation, Gamecube, Dreamcast,Xbox and now the Wii. also had the Original Gameboy then gb colour and DS. A friend had a Amstrad 464 and Mega drive and first computer used at school was BBC Micro. a quick History of my techlife still have most of it and lots of other things i have used when round a friends.
I played an NES first, though it wasn't really mine, it was my uncles. MY first system was an SNES my grandpa got me for my birthday. It came with Link to the Past
The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.
Do you know how much of a pain it is to do an image search in China. All the big blog sites are blocked and google's intermittently blocked as well. The great firewall especially hates google image search. Took a while to find another one.
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery
