Most people have already said this, but I should say it anyways. You can't really compare two things until they have both died. But if I had to choose, I would say Wii because quality always beats quantity in my opinion.

gamecube barely had anything good which is why I am glad I had a ps2 instead. I also somewhat recently got a dreamcast. Those systems had the best games of last generation. I don't even bother with gamecube games despite the backward comparability, plus I hate the gamecube controller. The classic controller is much better.
The best stuff on gamecube is either on ps2 as well or has been re released with better controls on the wii
The gamecube was dark times for nintendo even nintendo employees admit. The system was behind xbox and ps2 and had nintendo almost fading into obscurity.
With that said I'm not too much into nintendo published games for the most part. Wii sports resort is fun and I wanna get metroid prime trilogy. Oh and some of the nintendo published wiware looks pretty unique.
Funnily enough I was just thinking about this today, and then I saw this thread. I like the Gamecube a lot better than the Wii. The big appeal of the Wii, to me, is the Virtual Console, while it's games have not been that great. Even though Opoona and No More Heroes are two of my favorite games EVER. Overall, I am disappointed with what the Wii has offered so far. The GCN was great because Nintendo put out a lot of solid games. They were so good, in fact, that Nintendo is putting some of them on the Wii with its NPC series. Rather than making new games, Nintendo is taking GCN games to put on the Wii. That's how good the GCN was.

Actually I would think its more a case that gamecube didn't do so well so they want to give some of the better games a chance to be played and bought that they didn't have on the less popular gamecube. Plus they control better with the wii controls.
