Topic: Why aren't you listening to Zelda Reorchestrated?

You probably heard about the orchestrated Ocarina of Time soundtrack that these kind folks did, and you may have heard that they're going to tackle the Twilight Princess soundtrack with a hollywood orchestra and a 25-piece professional choir.

But did you know that they've done amazing orchestrated renditions of every Zelda soundtrack EVER? And you can download them? FOR FREE?

..Well maybe you did. But I didn't. If you're looking for Zelda soundtracks but don't feel like paying upwards of $80 for imported Japanese Zelda OSTs, you've just struck gold.

Seriously. This stuff is amazing. Listen to it now.

I'm not impressed, personally. It's like listening to high quality midis. They put nothing into it. Listening to same tune repeatedly works while playing a game, but for active listening there should be changes, little or big, with each repetition. Or better yet, I'd have liked if they'd done a medley for each game like that really good Super Metroid piece.

Good playing and all, though, and not altogether uncreative. I like what they did with the Cave theme from LttP, for instance, but listening to the same short piece of music repeated a random number of times is just... random.

Come on, friends,

That basically sums up my thoughts on it as well.

Yeah, agreed. For a project titled Zelda Reorchestrated it doesn't sound all that "reorchestrated" to me. Zelda Recreated, maybe?

I listened to a few tracks by these guys a few years ago and wasn't too impressed. I own most of the Zelda soundtracks that I'd want anyway, and these were the competent bar-band equivalent of listening to the originals. They're not bad, but is the original that difficult to find?

I guess the appeal of these tracks is the fact that you can download them legally for free, which is something one can't do with the actual soundtracks. So for people who just want to jam out to Windfall Island Theme on their iPod it's probably pretty cool.

I'm assuming the Twilight Princess album will be somewhat different, as they're sinking a lot of money into hiring an orchestra. Maybe "assuming" isn't the right word. Maybe it's "hoping."

Some of these recordings aren't great, I agree. I think they've gotten more money as they've become more popular and built up a fanbase, so, for example, the Ocarina of Time reorchestration is significantly higher quality than what they did for Wind Waker. The Twilight Princess project will definitely be the best quality thing they've done, because they're using a professional Hollywood orchestra, a professional Hollywood sound mixer, a professional Hollywood choir and professional Hollywood recording space. They've already got $18,000, which is pretty crazy.

I've been listening to ZREO pretty much since they started. The only soundtrack I downloaded on my computer is OoT, though, because I'd rather listen to the originals for the most part. I made an exception for OoT because...well, it's freaking Ocarina of Time!
