Diddy Kong. Especially helped by the fact that Diddy Kong Racing is more of a single player experience and thus a worthwhile game with my one N64 controller.

The silver coins in the last 2 worlds are a nightmare though.

I loved Diddy Kong. The story mode was great, and the Silver Coins were a great extra challenge. My bro and I played each other in battle mode a lot too. There were only 4 battle stages, but they were a lot of fun. I would pay lots of $$ to play it on the VC (I will make it worth your while M$oft). Plus airplanes and hovercrafts gave the game a lot of variety. I'm kind of surprised that it's taken until MK7 to start experimenting with this.

I didn't have MK64 though, so I can't really compare. However, I have so many good memories with Diddy Kong, that I don't think MK64 could compete with the nostalgia overload.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

As much as I hate Rare, I'm going to say Diddy Kong. It just had so much more to do in the Singleplayer and I thought the tracks were more interesting.

I downloaded MK 64 and it's okay. I like its tracks a lot but the rubber band AI is weird. No matter what you do they find ways to be right on your tail, but at the same time, when they pass you they slow down so you can catch up. Makes for exciting races I guess.

this is what they call adaptative difficulty

...no, it's rubber band AI that no one likes.

I played both back in the day but I have fond memories of playing Mario Kart 64 but hardly any memory of playing Diddy Kong Racing so it's an obvious choice for me.

I own Diddy Kong, never owned MK but played it a lot. Overall, I'd say Mario Kart but Diddy Kong did have cool worlds and the characters were pretty unique.

The single player in Diddy Kong was great. Had a lot of fun exploring the world, finding secrets and such.

But for multi player, as has been said earlier, all you need is Block Fort.

I know I was warned, but I'm having buyer's remorse about getting MK64. It's the worst Mario Kart I've ever played, and I own them all.

you have remorse of 10 dollars? please...

you have to have friends to play this with....sucks alone....put aside a saturday...gets some beers or soda and 2 other friends...play races if you like but thats competitive....if you want to really have fun with this game...play battle mode...

DKR. Maybe because I have good memories with it, but the music is great, adventure mode is cool, and it's just a really solid game. I like MK64, too, but DKR is just more fun to me.
