Ugh! My GameBoy color is causing me some funkin' frustration, frustration on the level of April O'Neil getting her yellow banana jump suit stained by a greasy Ice Cream pizza! Like I previously mentioned in a few other threads I've been through a Snake Light, A Light Magnifier and now a Blob light and I'm disatisfyed with all 3 of these flawed little Light blasting gizmo's to the point where I'm THIS close on shelling out $120 to order a Purple GBC professionaly modded with a GBA SP front Light. These Snake and blob lights don't light up the corners of the screen and the worst thing about them is that they cast a light reflection of the actual light itself dead middle in the screen making it a massive Dissapointing Donatello distraction. Say that 5 times fast.
Is there possibly any other Light attatchment out there that doesn't suck Shy Guy balls? Also, I do have a GBA SP and if i knew how to solder wires like Tim The Tool man Taylor than I'd actually install my GBA SP's front light in my GBC as shown in the tutorial myself. But then I'd have to order a couple of different screws like a Tri-Wing which you can only buy online and the likey'....Ahhh, what to do. What would YOU guys do? And no, i don't like playing GB/GBC games on the GBA SP! It just doesn't feel right.....It's not nostalgiac in the sense that i'm not playing GBC games on a GBC, the GB/GBC cartridge itself sticks out the bottom like a crazy eye sore, The screen is shrinked down a bit with an ugly boarder surrounding it, plus there's no headphone jack which is possibly one of my biggest gripes, even though i do have the dongle adapter attatchment, but sticking that dongly little bendable cable into the GBA SP and then attaching my headphone cable to it makes plus the GB/GBC cartridge sticking out the bottom makes it look and feel like an unreleased long lost Sega-something mess.
In the end I know I'll be more satisfyed with the GBC + Front light, but that's still $120! Hmmm. Tempting, but pricey!

No offense, but since when have you cared about price, WaveBoy? You're constantly talking about how you've purchased the best headphones and TV sets and blah-blah-blah, so why are you hemming and hawing now over the GBC+frontlight? Just get it and be done with it, because you're just going to complain about anything else you bother with and piss everyone off in the process.

The best headphones and TV's huh? Not by a long shot. lol....You've read wrong, at least regarding TV's. ya, ya whatever.Anyways, you're right. Knowing me, the zany perfectionist that i am i'd most likely never be satisfyed with anything other than getting an actual front light installed. It's always going to be the 'what if' So with that said, time to whip out the $120 and get the bloody thing.

"Cheap, Cheap, Cheap" I hear the birds chirpin!Nahhh, it's actually money well spent in my eyes. Besides, I'm not waiting for all of these titles to gradually hit the 3DS's VC during it's entire life span(Wario Land 2, 3, Mega Man V, Castlevania, Contra: Operation C ect ect) and there are those like TMNT III: Radical Rescue which is just one example that will never make it.
In the end, I'll be glad i spend the $120. It would actually be 'free' if i did the front light swap between my GBA SP and GBC, but there's a few thigns in there that only Tim The Toolman could pull off haha

Just dropping in to point out that an installed front light will have a noticeable effect of washing out the color. It will likely ruin the experience of playing GBC games as the graphic quality would be far from acceptable for pickier gamers. A worm light would be both better and cheaper.
...oh, it's WaveBoy, go ahead and waste your money and just get a front light installed, I expect we'll be hearing about how much it sucks soon enough.

Well if that is the case I'll just settle and use my Blob Light, as funny as that sounded. I was actually wondering if B&W Gameboy games would suffer from detail being washed out due to the added front light. It's better to ask than assume, and i'm guessing you've never seen a front lit gameboy in person have you? Would the effect be exactly the same as it would by turning the off/on button on a GBA SP? Also, there aren't many GBC games that I'm interested in, the majority are standard GB/B & W.

Strangely enough, I was being serious in the first part of my response... and also funnily enough, I have actually seen a front lit Game Boy as well as had experience with an Afterburner Advance and from memory, the B&W units (I assume B&G too), don't have the exact same issues as Color models with washout, no. So, if you're planning on modding an old school GB or Pocket, it might be worth doing. I'dve done that with my NGPC if it didn't suffer from washout...which it does, sadly.

Will the light make your GBC games display in gameplay-changing stereoscopical 3D? If it doesn't, you shouldn't get it, all your GBC games will look so flat and boring.

3D depth does make '3DS' games in 2D look boring, at least for me. Once you've seen a game shift to that magical 3D, that same game in '2D' does look flat & dull in 'comparison'. Luckily in this case that doesn't effect me whatsoever because none of my GB games have that special ability!
Thanks for the useless response though, i love it!
