Topic: Which is better overall - NES or Game Boy?

I think many people will choose NES but I'd like to think the Game Boy is better, mainly because it was replaced years after the NES. You may NES has Super Mario Bros. 3 and that is a great game.

I think the Game Boy may have an edge due to the likes of Wario Land. Also, Link's Awakening is better than NES Zelda IMO. And despite being on a tiny screen with only four colors, later Game Boy games tend to be more detailed than their NES counterparts.

But yes, both systems have their fair share of bad games too.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

I liked the original Zelda more than Zelda's awakening. While the Gameboy had some great games, the NES had many industry defining games.

I like the GB more but I think this nails it.

This shouldn't even be a question.
Do you like Black & White visuals, with inferior sound, much crappier NES ports & sequels all displayed on a tiny screen? If yes, you are officially insane. I dig the game boy, I really do, but there's no flippin' comparison. the NES is legendary, a console that created new franchises and new genres, it defined the industry. The GB? back in the day we have to put up with the awful pea soup monochrome green screen which was plagued with terrible motion blur and contrast. I couldn't even appreciate the GB back then. I still played it, but I could never really sit down and spend a lot of time with it. The NES was the 'to go to' station of fun 80's awesome tarter sauce of neo arcadio chucky cheese goodness. woahhh! Try saying that five times fast.

The NES left an enormous impact on me, it was downright magical......the GB? yeah....not so much. Super Mario land, Kirby's dreamland and a few others were 'neat', but being colorless alone and displayed on a tiny terrible screen felt like you were being sent through a vortex and taking a journey through Uncle Festers green puke palace.

The DS has the greatest gaming selection of any portable IMO. The worst? I'd say the Gameboy color without question.

I like GB Zelda over both NES Zeldas.

I like the Super Mario Land trilogy over the Super Mario Bros. trilogy.

I like Game Boy Donkey Kong '94 over NES Donkey Kong.

I like Game Boy Pokémon over any NES RPG.

I like Game Boy Street Fighter II over any NES one-on-one fighter.

And once you upgraded to a Game Boy Pocket, the blurry green screen issue disappears.

NES, hands down.

50hz PAL NES or Gameboy I would go for Gameboy.

Famicom or US NES - Famicom (Japanese Castlevania III / Crisis Force are the best games).

Does the NES have Wario Land, Super Mario Land 2, and Link's Awakening? I didn't think so.

Consider this blasphemous but I have very little experience with either. If I had to choose at the moment, I would say Game Boy. There is just something about the Game Boy that is very appealing.

NES for me. I judge this by how many and the quality of the games there are on each system that I'd want to play today. On NES, there are lots that I'd want to play. On the original game boy, the only game I'd really care about playing is Link's Awakening but I prefer the original Legend of Zelda over it. For me, the game boy had a lot of great games and was a great system but, unlike the NES, I just don't care about it anymore. Aside from a small handful of games, I always viewed the game boy as the system that got the crappy ports of NES games for the sake of portability.

Don't misunderstand. I cherish my Gameboy games and they are lots of fun! However, the only Gameboy game I find greater than it's NES counterpart or successor is Tetris. Nothing will ever beat Gameboy Tetris~

GB Donkey Kong is loads better.

Donkey Kong '94 is a great game. However, I find it uncomparable to the oldschool DK arcade/NES game because I consider it more in line with the "Mario VS. Donkey Kong" franchise.
