Do you prefer the "golden age" (Pac Man, Space Invaders, etc) or the "modern age" (Tekken, Cruisin', etc)?
I turned 5 in late 1990, so obviously I'm a 90s kid. I've played all the 80s classics, but I've never grown attached to them. I absolutely love the 90s classics.

I loved the PS1 RPGs and SNES Adventure games. But I think my favorite console was the NES. It had the most creative, and influential games ever. It was a point in time when nothing had been made to be recycled yet, so it was just the developer's imagination and creativity at work. That's when the games were the greatest (in my opinion, that is.)
“The revolution is not an apple that falls when it is ripe. You have to make it fall.” - "Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them."
The age when Street Fighter II came out. I played a lot of Turtles in Time and Simpsons (which I think was probably around the same time), too, but Street Fighter was the arcade game. I remember I had a line of challengers waiting to play me at Pizza Hut once. I felt like a superstar.
Ah, the glory days. I hope some day arcades make a come back. I miss the social scene and the kind of games that arcades engendered.
That said, Galaga and Pole Position have eaten just as many quarters, but I have fonder memories of the multiplayer games of the early 90s.

I said arcade games, not video games.

I'm firmly in the 80s camp, the earlier the better. This was when I first started to be physically able to play games (I could actually reach the controls without standing on a box!) and there was a lot of weird and wonderful games coming from companies long gone or others who later started franchises and largely abandoned trying anything new. There were some great games in the 90s, but by then the genres were pretty well established and you started seeing the same kind of game over and over again with slightly different features - no more room for gems like Domino Man in those dying arcades sadly...
I grew up in the 90s, and I love the arcade games from that time, especially the beat-'em-ups like the TMNT games and the Simpsons. The 80s games are too dull in terms of both graphics and gameplay, in my opinion.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

I do not prefer an age as such, what i do prefer is Namco' s outstanding work from the early 80' s till late 90' s. Nothing comes even close to a Pac-Man, Dragon Spirit, Soul Edge or Ridge Racer 2.
