Mine was not really a "buy." I found Final Fantasy VII from my real godbrother's (I am in a Catholic family, but I am Protestant today.) house one day. I did not know about all the hype behind Final Fantasy VII (I once thought that Sephiroth was a Seviper+Corphish+Vigoroth Pokémon mix!), but I seemed interested. I wanted to borrow the game, yet my real godbrother said that I could keep the game.
I forgot to mention that my N64 purchase came with no AV cables, but since I had a Gamecube with AV cables, I just used those cables because they work with N64's. My bad.

I bought a boxed and in mint condition SNES Super Scope for $50 AUD and also another thing, which would have to be my all-time favorite piece of video game memorabilia, a boxed, complete and excellent condition NES Action Set (grey zapper version) and it came with 7 games, mario and duckhunt, kung fu, section z, balloon fight, rad racer, ninja gaiden 2 and the incredibly shitty Total Recall. All that for $120 AUD.
i was at recess in the third grade and i found sonic the hedgehog for genesis laying in a patch of tall grass. i didnt even know if it worked until last year when i tried it on a friends genesis, and yes, it worked fine. =)
I found a copy of Super Metroid at a 3D Games for $30 and convinced my brother to buy it for me and I'd pay him back later. Thankfully he was able to find it when he went back to get it. I've since passed it and it works like new...
A few years ago my best friend came back from up North with an NES system with two or three controllers, the zapper, one of those arcade sticks and a whole lot of awesome games (including Metroid [which he gave to me] and Super Mario Bros. 3). Sadly, he sold everything to my cousin, who is a casual gamer (read: only plays FPS games) at best, so who knows where it is or whether or not it still works. Man, if I'd had some money then, that thing would be mine...

@Wildvine53: LG, FR, Ruby and Sapphire? Plus a Gameboy Micro for $30? Lucky! I've been wanting to grab the GBA Pokemon games for a while, but they're always $30 a piece...

I have a couple. Complete copy of mutant league football for Sega Genesis for $2 at a pawn shop. It even came with a mutant league poster and a subscription card to GamePro magazine. My most cherished Retro game is a complete copy of Monster World IV for Genesis, english translated.
I got Chrono Trigger for the SNES for free from my friend. It is in mint condition to this way. I'll sell for $1000 or more. But seriously, where do you guys find such good deals. There are no such flea markets where people sell things like that here, and I can't find any store that sells video games at all within a 1 hour drive other than Gamestop.
Got a great price on a lot of original Gameboy/Gameboy Color games from eBay...
Kid Icarus
Kirby's Dream Land
Mole Mania
Mystical Ninja
Nobunaga's Ambition
Revenge of the Gator
Spider-Man 2
Tecmo Bowl
Tetris
Dragon Warrior I & II (GBC)
Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening DX (GBC)
Monster Rancher Battle Card (GBC)
Pokemon Trading Card Game (GBC)
Rugrats Movies (GBC)
Final selling price? $10.50! A couple of the games aren't that good... but there were some real gems too! I even sold three that weren't very good to a local used game store and recouped $4.

Yes I was extremely fortunate that my cousin matured. One day he just decided video games were to childish for him, and he can't stand trade in stores. Only downside is now I'm hooked on pokemon again, and I had just gotten over it. And I discovered Micros can't play Game boy color games, so sad

@Wildvine53: Hooray for "matured" cousins, then...
Bummer about the Micro not playing GBC games, though...

I've gotten a sealed copy of F-Zero for the Super NES when I was 12 for $1. Another good deal is that I got the Mortal Kombat Kollection on the PS2 for $13 which has MK: Deception, MK: Shaolin Monks, & MK: Armageddon.
I've also managed to find a top loading Neo Geo CD at an online store with A/V cables, a controller, & an AC adapter for about $112.23. Unfortunately, the only bad part is probably the high shipping rates that I might have to deal with. The games look pretty cheap though compared to their AES versions & sometimes MVS to a lesser extent.
