So then I wonder how Nintendo got sued for the 3D effect on the 3DS when they did virtual boy that used nearly the same tech?

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

The Virtual Boy used an entirely different method of displaying a 3D image - From what I remember, it involved oscillating mirrors bouncing light from the LED display. Meanwhile, the 3DS basically points different lines on the screen itself to different eyes.

Virtual boy caused Headaches, Nausea and dizziness and that was how it failed. then the N64 came out and saved the day!

Sega even planned on releasing the Sega 'Pluto' which thankfully didn't see the light of day.

Sega didn't want gamers to later revoke its status as a console.

They should just re-release it on the 3DS's eShop in Stereoscopic 3D

This ^, plus all the titles on the VB

I would LOVE to see the Virtual Boy library on the 3DS. You'd think that would be a no-brainer.

To the point that I suspect there is a technical limitation as to why its not been done. I'm willing to bet that the way the VB handled 3D (dual screens, one for each eye) isn't easily compatible with the single screen steroscopic 3D effect of the 3DS.

I desperately would love to play Wario Land, Mario Clash, Red Alarm, and Waterwo.... JACK BROS!

For Nintendo, it's about the time and money investment in developing an emulator for a console that would not see use for more than (at best) 11 of the 22 released games.

The 3D tech behind the VB is exactly the same as the 3DS, the 3DS has two screens as well, just two in one. Therefor it is compatible with the 3DS if they would want to port the games and the alleged problems as headaches, nausea and dizziness are as much present on the VB as on the 3DS.

There are just too many myths going around on the Virtual Boy, that it is insane! I own two perfectly working VB's and I let my friends and family play them and when they do, they are surprised it got such a bad name. Some just keep on playing for an hour.

The color palette isn't really great of course and wasn't at the time it was released, but that is pretty much the only thing that was somewhat bad about the device.

The Virtual Boy was a rare misstep for Nintendo, compared to Sega's constant screw-ups. Just look at Sega's North American hardware release dates:

Sega CD: 1992
Sega 32X: 1994
Sega Saturn: 1995

You can't keep releasing new hardware on a nearly yearly basis.

Nintendo preferred to keep redesigning their consoles and handhelds instead, but did also release an add-on.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
