its not a "zombie thread" at all...no one seems to know the way to clean games or systems so they throw them away. im trying to prevent "zombie" actions.

Depends whats wrong with it. I use to have a NES cleaning kit back in the days of NES now what that used I am not sure but I think it was rubbing alcohol. My friend use to use Q-tips and rubbing Alcohol to clean his games but I usually just blew in mine to get them working.
This. Blowing in the cart won't get rid of the dirt stains which cause the problem to begin with. Personally, i use a Q-tip, cover it with a thin damp clothe and rub inside on both sides and it works wonders.
it does work but honestly, once you do my original method* you wont have to do anything for 10 years at all but the alcohol tips...i just suggest using the 91% alcohol q-tips after you do a real clean*, and do the 91% alcohol q-tips clean everytime you get ready to put a game in a console to prevent contamination INSIDE your system. otherwise people will be buying yer "broke" systems online and restoring them

to be as gentle as possible to the games, i always try with a dry topz first. if that doesnt work i dip it in window cleaner.
another thing that works and might be a little bit less harsh than window cleaner is to rub it with an erasor, but you'll need to open the cartridge to do that.
Youre not old school until u both blow and shake the cartridge like a mother. Also saying a prayer to the video game gods or sacrificing a chicken at the altar are highly recommended to get that 25 year old copy of Kung Fu or RC Pro Am to work.
I just cleaned a few games with rubbing alcohol and waited about 15 minutes for them to dry out. When I put the games in the register and run and everything but the screen is so dark they almost look like silhouettes. Anybody have this problem or know what the problem is? The 72 pin is replaced new and when I bought it he tested out the system and it worked great. Could the alcohol have ruined my games or the system? Any info would be much appreciated!!! I just wanna beat double dragon lol

the guy has a genuine problem, he joined apparently so that he could ask in this thread (might've come from google, who knows) and the only thing you can do is complain that he revived a thread for its original purpose. could you please try being helpful instead?
@Sthnipah: ogo79 has a good question — do all of your games do this, or just the ones you cleaned with alcohol?

Sorry. Only joking. I doubt the alcohol did anything to your game unless you used alot and by alot I mean pouring half the bottle on it. Could it maybe be your connections?

oh also, Sthnipah, if you go back to the first page, i show exactly how to clean them. none of my games have any problems booting up the first time around, we got to get your games running again.

That method leaves a residue behind on the contacts, which can errode them over time. The best way to combat this is with a 1-to-1 mix of alcohol and water. However, the biggest problem is usually dirt and corrosion, and that's hard to remove without something like Brasso. When I opened up my copy of "Super Mario Bros. 3", it looked incredibly filthy. I had to scrub those contacts like crazy.
