don't use Brasso, it basically removes the top layer of molecules from the contact strips. Use a hard rubber (the kind used to remove pen writing) to remove the dirt and oxydation, then clean them with some iso-alcohol or bio-ethanol. Here's a "before and after" picture of a NES cartridge i brought back to life:
