No more minis, just release the games on current gen machines imo. Personally don't have an interest in having more boxes connected to the TV but would love to revisit a game here and there from previous generations.

I'd put my main vote on this. I'd greatly prefer retro games on modern hardware alongside modern releases.

But, if this trend were to continue, I'd rather see it evolve. I'd like to see Nintendo, for example, release a retro console with support for all their games from NES through Gamecube, with internet access to a retro eshop that can be supported by 3rd parties as well. If I am talking about dreams, I'd also like them to release a series of peripherals that would let you plug in, and dump roms from classic physical games you might already own. This would be a great means of preservation for games that aren't getting any younger. The device could even have adapters for original controllers and Nintendo or other companies could profit off of reproductions of those controllers. Seems lucrative to me.

I feel like this is the best possible counter to the explosion of hacked devices and dubiously legal emulation. Certainly that sort of thing will never go away, but I know there is a large subset of the gaming population that is, at least, uneasy with it and would rather just buy a system, and buy the games through honest and straightforward means.

I'd actually would like to see a "both" approach. Release minis and release the games on current gen machines, that way people can pick whatever they like. Me, I'd probably go for the releases on current gen machines. So far I haven't picked up any minis, but I have picked up Switch Online mainly for the NES games.

I'll likely be picking up the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Classics Collection later on as well, but I'm waiting to get that one after getting some Amazon credit for my Smash Preorder, which I'll turn into an eshop gift card, then once I get Smash for Christmas (my wife's making me wait!) I can register it for the gold coins, plus I have some money left on my eshop account, after which I'll have just about enough to get it.

Fortunately, the Switch does seem to be getting a good collection of retro titles, both individual ones and collections. I'm hoping we'll see Sega Saturn games, since that's one system I missed and there's some games I'd like to try, most prominently Panzer Dragoon.

edit: Ok? Not sure how I missed the article about Panzer Dragoon getting remade... Woot!
