Topic: What are your favorite Super Mario games?

2D? Probably Super Mario Bros 3, with Super Mario Land 2 a close second.

3D? Either 64 or Galaxy 2.

Others? Well, Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon was awesome.

Before anyone asks, yes I did enjoy the Super Mario Galaxy games but I would not put them on a "favorites" list.

Favorite 2D: Super Mario World
Favorite 3D: All (They're all good with each one having its positives and negatives)
Least Favorite 2D: New Super Mario Bros. U
Favorite non main series: Mario kart 8

3D: I'm still catching up, up next are Galaxy 2 and 3D World. Would like a Sunshine HD Remaster for that purpose too.

I've put more hours into Mario 3 on the 3DSvc than I have all but a few actual 3DS games.

Galaxy 2, with Galaxy second.

For 3D I'd definitely go with Sunshine, had so much fun with that one as a kid and still love it today.

For 2D though it's a tough call between 3 and World

3D: Super Mario Galaxy or Super Mario 64, for different reasons

Favorite 2D: Super Mario World. It introduced Yoshi and had WAY more secrets to unravel than SMB3. Not to mention I lersonally like the cheery atmosphere and colors a lot more.

Favorite 3D: This one is tougher. I think I may go for Super Mario Galaxy 2. While the lack of story was a let down after Galaxy 1, the level design and atmosphere are top-notch.

I hope it's okay that my list includes more than just platformers, but I'm going to do a Top 10 countdown:

Favorite 3D: Super Mario Sunshine. It's my absolute favorite Mario game!
As for 2D, I like Super Mario Bros. 3.

Edit: Decided to add non-platformers, so my absolute favorite Nintendo game is Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door. I love Paper Mario as well.
Since I've only finished one main Mario game, I guess it'd be Super Mario 3D Land. Got all the Star Coins in every level, even the bonus worlds. I played as Luigi And I plan on playing more Mario, going to get Super Mario Bros 3 for my 3DS as I had it a long time ago on the NES but never bothered to play it.

Happy to see the love for the various Mario RPG's and Yoshi's Island.

2D platformer: Super Mario World (easy question!)
3D platformer: Super Mario Sunshine
Sports: Mario Power Tennis (GameCube)
Party: Mario Party 7 (I haven't played the N64 ones).
Racer: Mario Kart Double Dash!! (for the physics, controls, drivers, vehicles and items).
RPG: Paper Mario The Thousand-year Door.
