Inspired from another forum I go to. What franchises would you like to see the return of?
I would personally love a return of Fantasy Zone but made easier...for a shmup it was a unique game visually...but the number of enemies/projectiles on screen made he game so frustratingly difficult.
Pulseman is another one I'd like to see come back, but it's nigh on impossible because of the Pokemon franchise (got to admit they struck gold), they should give it to SEGA in my personal opinion...which reminds me...
Ristar is another that'd work well on the/a handheld/DD service.
What are your desired franchises to return to either the retail or DD side?
Sega is hiding a ton of series which deserve a return. They have a history of amazing games which they really aren't taking advantage of. Streets of Rage, Jet Set Radio, Panzer Dragoon, ChuChu Rocket, Space Channel 5, Golden Axe, Burning Rangers, Virtual On, Ristar, Toejam & Earl and the Shining series.
Thankfully there's a new Phantasy Star Online game in the making.
I would love to see Bubsy, and Earthworm Jim make a comeback.
So many good games, so little money to spend.
3DS FC: 2148-8542-0062 Name:Ram-Z
Add me if you dare!
3DS Games:
Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D
Mario Kart 7
Super Mario 3D Land

Also Power Stone 3, please Capcom!
I would of said Streets of Rage but the game was set in the 90's when it was cool to wear a cap and vests, they'd have to update the series so Axel is a 40 something detective with a 'Tashe with some more muscle and Skate being a look-a-like to his older brother. Would be interested to see.
The Shining Seies is still around, Shining Hearts was released inJapan not too long ago.
Virtual On, Jet Set Radio and Chu Chu Rocket need a revival...but CCR would need to change some part of the puzzling sections or it will feel like the older Puyo Puyo games.
I just remembered that Billy Hatcher needs a sequel too.
Oh and Shinobi and Altered Veast did have a revival on the PS2 but it wasn't very good.
On one hand: I've gotten sick of so many old series and there's really almost no good series left to bring back. (outside of Sega, but Sega sucks now and I don't want another Nights/Samba De Amigo travesty).
On the other hand: points to Donkey Kong Country Returns
I mean, all the stages and cameos have to mean something, right?
No, no they don't.
But Kid Icarus is getting a new game so anything's possible I guess.
Wait. Contact 2. Where is Contact 2? I remember an interview in Nintendo Power talking about a Contact sequel on "a not yet revealed" Nintendo system in 2006. I'm still waiting for the game Contact should have been.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
I'd love to see 2D beat em ups make a comeback. Any of them, I like pretty much all of them. Jet Set Radio would be cool. Someone mentioned Bubsy, but the PSX ruined any chance of that :-/ I'd also like to see Metalstorm come back. That's one of the best games on the NES but for some reason never caught on.
@StuffyStuff Yeah beat 'em ups are a dying breed. If you're looking for a beat 'em up, the most recent actually good one was The Red Star on the PS2. It's based on The Red Star comics which is a great series. The game is 3D but it plays a lot like the old 2D ones. It mixes it up classic brawling gameplay by introducing bullet hell mechanics in the boss areas. It also has characters upgrades, 2P coop and a long campaign which gets really hard (like retro hard... or worse) towards the final few missions. Ignore the unimportant plot - it's sort of tacked on and disappointingly doesn't reveal much about the comic series anyway - and just get to the killin'. Not that beat 'em ups were ever really about story to begin with. Love it!
@TheInstantGamer Chrono Cross was a fine sequel to Trigger and one of my favourite RPGs ever.
@lielie Awesome, also dang. Maybe they'll get back to JSR soon. At least it's been on Sega's minds recently.
Spyro? Crash Bandicoot? Bubsy!?!?! Talk about games I wouldn't want to see return! I guess some of you grew up with the wrong type of games.
I have to agree about a new Shining Force. We've had a lot of Shining games since but they completely change the battle system, which is the main reason I love the series. It seriously is the most strategic battle system I have ever played in an RPG and is so much fun. Usually in an RPG I'm like "oh another battle - sigh" but in Shining Force I actually look forward to them.
