I know Super Punch Out was released in Europe because it came out on VC, but were any of the other games released there or Japan? I feel stupid asking this...

I don't know about Europe, but I'm pretty sure Japan never saw the release of Super Punch Out.

Actually it saw, but only via Nintendo's Nintendo Power service (shouldn't be confused with magazine of same name). Nintendo Power was shortlived system where player could bring blank cartridge to the store, and it could be filled with desired game. Super Punch Out saw release throught it in 1998. I'm not sure that did Nintendo even localize it any way. Mr. Dream Punch-Out was never released in the Japan. Instead they had version called Punch-Out!! that ended right after Super Macho Man. This version has supposedly some real minor graphical updates too.
