I'm sure I missed some handheld goodness during that time. any recommendations? i could stick 'em in my ds lite.

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past & Four Swords Adventures
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
Metroid: Zero Mission
Metroid Fusion
Klonoa: Empire of Dreams
Klonoa 2: Dream Champ Tournament

And of course the Pokemon games, if you're into them.

@Waltz - I feel the opposite way. PS1 was the first console I ever bought myself (along with FF7) so I missed out on most of what the N64 had to offer, aside from a select few titles played at friends' houses. I wish I would've been more into N64 back in its day as there were quite a few decent games for it.

The 3DO, Jaguar, Virtual Boy and CDi games. Not because they were any good but because no one would touch them. Poor lonely little games.

My dad picked up a 3DO about a year ago (and sold it about 2 weeks later). It was possibly the worst thing I've ever played on.

Anybody totaly miss out on the PS2 like i did?
I was too into my GameCube during that generation and i asbolutely couldn't stand the Xbox. I just wish the PS3 would go PS2 compatible, I need to stack up on some PS2 classics, like Silent Hill 3, Shadow of the Collossus, Fatal Frame II ect ect.

And funny enough I'm missing out on the PS3 this gen also, even though I have one. I find it totaly dissapointing since there just isn't much on the system at all that appeals to me. There are probably 6 or 7 games that I'd wan't for it and that's it. And then there's the Xbox 360 which I sold almost 3 years ago. Not interested.

I got a PS2 late, but I cought up pretty quick. I am currently missing out on a PS3, and I'm regretting it slightly. The PS3 has about as many games that appeal to me as the 360, though in the 360's case, those games are mostly shooters while on the PS3 most of them are racers and RPGs.

There's not much I regret missing out on, that I can't easily dl on VC or buy used. Two exceptions - Nights into Dreams for the Sega Saturn and Earthbound. I wanted a Saturn for it back in the day, but nothing else really interesting ever came out for it, so I eventually got an N64. Earthbound just because I've heard about it so much here.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

I got a PS2 late as well, around 2006. The abundance of games makes it very easy to catch up on, so go and do it.

As for the PS3, I'll pick that up when there are enough games which interest me. Right now there just aren't enough yet.

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

I still need to stack up on some PSOne games.
Rayman, Jumping Flash!, Tomba, Mega Man 8, Resident Evil, Ridge Racer ect ect. I've got around 15 or so games I wan't for the PSOne, along with maybe around 20 for the PS2. As for my least favorite, the PS3. Well these are the titles I want at the moment, along with a few that are coming out. But it's really tricky dishing out all this cash when your main focus is on the Wii and DS hehe. Hell, the only PS3 games I have are Dead Space and Resident Evil 5.

PS3
Dead Space 2
Mortal Kombat
Splatterhouse
Super Street Fighter IV
BlazeBlue
Marvel Vs Capcom 3
BioShock: Infinite
The Last Gaurdian

And out of pure randomness, does anybody else on here not like Devil May Cry and God of War?

There's nothing to dislike about Devil May Cry, but I'm not a fan of God of War since it's not like Devil May Cry where it's all about putting together unique high-grade combos to kill your enemies while paying enough attention to avoid getting hit by other enemies while God of War is less about making unique and inventive combos and more about the cinematics and style, at least until the boss fights. The bosses in God of War are great. GoW also lacks the style and charisma of DMC, IMHO, and the main character is wholey unlikeable, unlike DMC's loveable Dante (DMC2 excluded).

Also, do you have a 360?

Did anybody else miss out on Ocarina of Time back in the N64 days? I only played around 15 minutes of it at the time. It still blows my mind and totaly angers me that I completely passed up on this classic as well as Majora's Mask.

I didn't own an N64 and I've never played OoT or MM. I don't regret it either lol, I was playing so many great games around that time and I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything. I may eventually get OoT 3DS to see what the fuss is about.

Hmm... well, my first game system was an N64, and my first game was paper mario, so i thought i wasn't missing out on too much until i learned about the NES and SNES, but now, with the wii, i can play most of those games anyway. i never really saw the appeal in any of the playstation line, maybe it's just because i grew up with nintendo, but i especially hate the recent xbox games because of the fact that most of the games on it now are first person shooters (which i despise - every last copy of halo, call of duty, or modern warfare, whatever it is, mainly because they are just boring and monotonous, plus, each only has a very small campaign). So, basically, i don't think iv'e missed out on much.

MysteriousVoice

Every single good game on the GBA when I had it when I was 8. I had Shrek 2, Butt Ugly Martians... At least I had Mario Advance... I thought those two were good games, since it was my first handheld...
At least Ive played most of the good ones now, Like Minish Cap, the other Mario games, etc.

A Mysterious Voice suddenly speaks out to you....

I honestly wish I'd gotten an N64. I would've had a lot more fun than with the PlayStation. I got one used a few years ago, and I love it. I also love the games I downloaded. The PS1 proved to be a disappointment.

In the past I've tried to own every available console (so I haven't missed much) but if I could do it again I'd skip buying the PSX. Final Fantasy 7 was better on the PC, Resident Evil 2 was on N64, and Metal Gear Solid would later be on the GameCube. Also I had to balance my PSX on it's side with a fan blowing on it or it would overheat. 32-bit was a dark time for video games. (Unfortunately I'd still need a Saturn to play Dragon Force.)

I do typically miss out on games released late in a system's shelf life because I've sold it for something better by then. Games like Phantasy Star 4, Snatcher, Paper Mario, and Ogre Battle 64. I actually only download VC games if I didn't finish them the first time around. It's a nice and easy way to catch up on the games you missed.

...in my pants.
