I honestly wish I'd gotten an N64. I would've had a lot more fun than with the PlayStation. I got one used a few years ago, and I love it. I also love the games I downloaded. The PS1 proved to be a disappointment.

I wish I hadn't missed out on so many good PS1 games, because I had an N64. Given the choice now, I still would have gone with the N64, but I missed a lot of good games on PS1.

Nothing. I can still purchase any console/game if I want to. I bought quite some retro consoles this year, but I didn't have the feeling that I missed out on something. The experience would be the same.

The only games I regret missing are ones that are rare or expensive nowadays. Anything else I can get used for a reasonable price. I've caught up on a lot of PSX games as a result.

My big ones are Radiant Silvergun and Guardian Heroes for the Saturn. Oh, also Dragon Force 2 which I stupidly returned because it was in Japanese.

Pokemon Generations II and III. I had a game from generation I though

Pretty much the whole 8 and 16-bit generations. I was born towards the end of the SNES's life and my brother sold it to get an N64 before I was old enough to get into it.

Though, thanks to some compilations and the VC, I was able to play some of those games.

Well then congratz, you only missed out on about 10 good games. And I'm sure they'll come to the VC eventually. Except maybe Turok, if that even counts.

Never got a chance to play Kingdom Hearts 2....played the first one but sold my PS2 (only had it just for KH anyway) once the Wii came out, not knowing a sequel existed...

GrimGrimoire, the RPGs on the Playstation, the shooters on the Sega Genesis, and The Dark Spire.

Ah, GrimGrimoire. Very interesting game. Glad I snapped it up soon after it came out. As for The Dark Spire, I bought it new off the shelf not long ago at a local game store. I got extremely lucky I think, but copies still exist out there.

Which shooters on the Genesis by the way? I didn't have that many shooters on mine but I'm always up for more quality Genesis games.

But, my biggest regret is that I never got the N64 when it was new. I was just too stupid to realize that it even existed even though I can clearly remember seeing a bunch of different commercials for it and the demos in some stores. Heck I even played some of those demos and yet I wasn't smart enough to go tell my parents to buy it.

I never owned an N64 and I don't regret it. A lot of the best N64 games are very available these days, especially thanks to VC. What did you play instead of the N64 then? Just your SNES? Or did you get a Playstation or Saturn?

@HolyMackeral

I have The Dark Spire in my Shopping cart as we speak, and I'm looking forward to playing it. I borrowed a copy at college so I already know how good it is. I just hope I can get it...been getting a lot lately.

As for shooters, there's Gaiares, Sagaia, Hellfire, FireShark, Lightning Force, Elemental Masters, Ranger X, Steel Battalion, and a few others that I can't quite remember.

there were a few honestly...years of googling and internet research provided me a second chance to get the games i missed.
when you think about it, back in the 90's there were several games being made and up to this day people are still discovering old games they never knew exsisted. i for one can say ive found ALL the games i missed out on and my list is almost complete.
after that, ill just replay all of them as i believe they are gems...from rare to repros to protos

good question. I've been lucky enough to not miss a major console yet, except for not yet having bought a 360. i guess that means I haven't played as much halo with friends as I might like to, and I'm going to get my first taste of mass effect 2 next year on the ps3.
I completely missed out on the GBA years. although I kept up to date with every home console, somehow I passed on the handheld consoles completely between my original gameboy with pokemon red all the way until this year when I got a DS. I'm sure I missed some handheld goodness during that time. any recommendations? i could stick 'em in my ds lite.

Probably the many Sega Saturn exclusives. I had a PS1 and N64 instead during that era. Now many good Saturn games are rare, expensive, and hard to find (as well as a decent working Saturn).

Earthbound is one of my all time favorites. I would repeatedly rent it from blockbuster, hey it's sticking in my snes now =) that game could dominate sales on VC.

Get ready for a ton.

Shantae for the GBC (Saw this used for $150 at a store yesterday, holy...), Metroid Fusion & Zero Mission for the GBA, Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker for the Gamecube (Which I'm just now getting to), every Kingdom Hearts game, God of War I & II, Shadow of the Colossus, ICO, Metroid Prime 1 & 2, the Timesplitters games (honestly some of the best FPS action I've played recently), Conker's Bad Fur Day for the N64/X-Box, Psychonauts for the X-Box, Beyond Good & Evil for the Gamecube, Klonoa for the PS1, Klonoa for the GBA, Alien Hominid for the Gamecube, and if I keep going I'll take up half this topic...

The_Ink_Pit_Ox

I forgot to mention Super Mario Bros. Deluxe. I probably would've loved that game, since I hardly had any GBC games to begin with. I didn't have a handheld Mario game until I got a GBA.
