Any of you guys/gals played this awesome NES game. It a literally overlooked game by so many that I had acquired long ago and man is it good. Matt Bozon of Wayforward mentioned this game awhile back and I had to go and play it again awhile back and was wondering if any of yall had missed this great game.

For people who don't know about the game, it's kind of like Ninja Gaiden - lots of action/platforming, your character had a sword along with limited ammo ranged weapons, and there were a bunch of "cinematic" cut scenes. There were also a couple of different sequences to mix things... at least one vertically scrolling driving level, and I think a sniper level too? The story was quite different from Ninja Gaiden - you are some kind of cop caught up in a weird sci-fi adventure with mutants and conspiracy around every corner. Even had some fairly mature twists (at least, mature for an NES game).

At least, that is what I remember. Played the game and managed to beat it, but that was so long ago that I simply can't remember the details now. Would definitely pick this up on Virtual Console if it was every released.

Glad to get some responses. I wasnt sure if anyone knew abou this one at all lol. I havent beaten it as I always keep getting into new games on my consoles and hit or miss Retro games. I will beat this one at some point though. What Ive played of it, prob at least half or more is Awesome. Hope it gets a VC release at some point as so many gamers SHOULD have the chance to play this awesome game.

Wasn't it an obscure game that got the cover of Nintendo Power but was delayed until after the SNES was released (making it even more obscure)? I know it happened with Robin Hood.

Oh wow, Robin Hood was another great NES title. Beat that one too back in the day, and thought it was really solid. Somehow I doubt it would hold up nearly as well after all this time though...

Never heard of it! I played Robin Hood Prince of Thieves though! I first rented it back in the day when I was sick and beat it over a period of a few days of constant playing. It was such a good overlooked action RPG. I own it now but played it on an emulator the other day to remind myself what it was like. It doesn't hold up quite as well but it's still not bad. You have to play it enough to get hooked in. The music is menacing it's a very dark almost creepy game. It reminds me a bit of Willow for NES which is also a movie tie in RPG and also pretty decent.
