Can someone not have an opinion that FFVI is amazing? I guess not.

You all are doing it wrong, the best Final Fantasy is II.

VI, IV, VII and IX were the only ones I really cared for.

The series went very downhill after IX, in my opinion.. I felt a strong disconnect with X, XII felt like an MMO and I have no idea what they were trying to do with XIII, but it's one of the worst RPG's I've ever played.

Yeah, it's cool to hate on new stuff.

Chrono Trigger. And Paper Mario. And Mario and Luigi. None of this Final Fantasy stuff.

I think that's just you. I've certainly never heard anyone have that problem. Either way, the rest of the game should make up for it anyways.

I'm pretty sure they were trying to create a universe that they could expand upon for years to come with sequels and spin-offs, using a game that was streamlined to the point of being more like an interactive movie with cinematic fight scenes in between the story segments.

Then you're one lucky guy, I can think of dozens of RPGs I've played that are way worse than FFXIII.

Ehh too hard to rate, but in all fairness what really was the core of Final Fantasy died with 7 if not for what they did on 9 making it a mix of 4-6. Should be rating them in N-era and S-era considering they're two entirely different types of the 'it' that makes up Final Fantasy.
N: 4, 6, 5, 3, 2, 1
S: 9, 13, 10, 7, 8, and the MMOs shouldn't count. Not including spinoffs, and sequels(X-whatever.)
Together I guess: 4, 6, 5, 9, 13, 3, 10, 2, 1, 7, 8, and the mmos last. Sorry if it offends but 7 was ungodly overhyped media spoon fed love of a very mediocre game a lot of people started on which created nostalgia that I could ramble on for awhile about but don't want to ruin the thread.

It's funny how Final Fantasy only started to suck once Square decided Sony's consoles were a better fit.

I'm more offended by the fact that you seem to be implying that the media loves mediocre games. If that's what you meant, then you have a deep misunderstanding of what makes things popular in first place, particularly in gaming.
