Here though it could have been aptly named 'Super Mario Sunshine Thread' and it would have worked just as well.
And to make this post somewhat relevant to the original post, I've always thought Sunshine was a nice complement to Wind Waker and vica versa. It's good that the franchises took a somewhat different path for once, and I like the oceany/beachy/watery/aquatic vibe Nintendo took for a while.
Excellent game, too bad I never owned my own copy, especially since I've been aching to replay it...

Sunshine is / was great. I love the levels that are built around the need to climb to some ridiculously high, dizzying point, using a combination of various jumps and nozzles. That kind of "reach the top by whatever means possible" gameplay, which was first introduced in Mario 64, doesn't really exist in the Galaxy games, and I miss it.

Yeah, the only downside to the game is Yoshi. Not because he was in it, but because Nintendo totally messed him up. You had to eat a fruit every few minutes, or else Yoshi would die, you had to keep watch of your juice level, or else you would die, and, worst of all, you had to stay away from all forms of water, because one touch from the stuff killed Yoshi immediatly, and trust me, it is HARD to not do so, considering water is the main concept of the game. Just Saying!
The game had some really interesting characters. Some of my favorites were the Tanukis (raccoons), the ukulele playing Pianta, Il Piantissimo, the Pianta judge, FLUDD, Toadsworth and Bowser Jr.. The level designs were awesome, and the music was relaxing. It may be the easiest 3D Mario ever (beat it 100% in less than a week), but it was a nice, refreshing Mario game nonetheless.

100%, including all of the blue coins? I never did get all of those, because it didn't seem to give me any clear indication as to where I should be looking (which specific levels and Shines) in order to find those that I missed.

Yeah, unlike Galaxy 2, you just don't WANT to find all of the star/shinesprites. In Sunshine, it just seems like such a pointless, daunting task for most players to want to do after they have beaten Bowser. In Galaxy 2 however, it is a whole lotta fun to get all of the stars and green stars, and seems less daunting.

Yep, all 240 of 'em. There's an alternate end screen featuring Il Piantissimo and the Magic Paintbrush as well as an alternate costume for Mario (Shine Sprite shirt and shades).
Did you find all the blue coins on your own in a week, or use a walkthrough? Just curious. I have this irrational no-walkthroughs pride thing, so I got a little discouraged when the game didn't even seem to be telling me where to start looking for the remaining coins (or maybe it did and I just didn't know how to see that?).

I assure you I had no walkthrough of any kind. I played it in a hotel room, and had very few things with me. But it was years ago, so i've forgotten how I managed to find them all...
I found it repetitive too and I didn't even get all that far into it. It wasn't a bad game I just found all the water spraying was boring and repetitive. Mario 64 for me was a lot more fun because it was all about platforming skill and the controls were near perfect.
@warioswoods: Yeah. Looking back at it (thank you Youtube!), I probably had a time of it finding all of them. But I didn't have much to do when I wasn't in school so I had plenty of free time to do it!
