Topic: TurboGrafx 16 Mini

Posts 1 to 10 of 10

Looks like Konami is throwing their hat into the ring with a TurboGrafx 16/PC Engine Mini. Don't know about you guys, but I think this looks like it could be good. Didn't care much about the other mini systems since they were consoles that I've already experienced a lot of, but I've never played much TurboGrafx so this looks appealing. Guess we'll have to wait and see how well it stacks up.

I would buy this if it had the uncensored Devil's Crush.

I will probably buy it anyway, I haven't played anything from the TurboGrafx 16 besides Alien Crush and Devil's Crush on the Wii U VC.

I'm hesitant to get excited about it, since they're having different games between regions again, which with the Sega Mini meant having to import to get the better selection...

Not sure of the point of having different versions between regions, I don't think any of the US-developed games were well-regarded, were they?

Well, I suppose It Came From the Desert is a historical piece but probably not a great game.

Turns out that the games are almost entirely the same between versions:

It seems to be mostly cosmetic, with the only game difference being that the Japanese PC Engine version swaps Salamander for a dating sim called Tokimeki Memorial. This is all for the Japanese release, mind you. I'm not sure if its even releasing outside of Japan. Pre-orders are up for all three on Amazon Japan, even though they also say that the North American and European versions are intended for their respective markets. Guess we'll have to wait and see what gets announced...

If they release it in my territory I will buy 2 of them. Hopefully the Japanese one but any port in a storm.

I love most video games especially Nintendo.

The only head-scratcher is Snatcher. We know that Konami isn't going to offer a translated version of that game. So unless you read Japanese, playing that game will be impossible. But the other games should be enjoyable without a complete understanding of the Japanese language.

Personally I believe Rondo of Blood, Ys Book I & II, Sapphire, and Lords of Thunder might justify the $100 asking price...if I hadn't already played those games. But I have played them, so I have zero interest in this product. But if you yourself haven't played them, you should.

This will be a better money-for-value proposition than the PS Classic was, but I would consider waiting for a price drop. #F***Konami

Will these be in stores? Like Best Buy, Wallyworld?

Snatcher wouldn't be impossible if Konami would import the Sega CD translation, I imagine.
(I imagine if M2 was working this, they'd probably be able to do it.)

I think maybe if the PC Engine Core Grafx mini will have a game of Liquid Kids, the Taito arcade classic. I enjoy playing this game on MAME as a kid. It was super! I love it, and it was on a MAME32 CD-ROM. So how about if Liquid Kids can be on the PC Engine mini? That will be lovely, won't it.

Old school games, retro games, Nintendo, SEGA, PlayStation, you name it! ūüėČūüĎć
