Games like Lufia II, Star Ocean, Soul Blazer, Terranigma, and Secret of Evermore, I only got to play ROMs of, as I never saw any of those games where I lived (I rented every SNES game in my local video store but I missed a lot of other games though ) I played a little bit of them, but I stopped from completing them in the hope I get the chance to play them on the VC or DS in the future.

@JesusSaves: most of the time, I try to turn a blind eye when you start crapping on stuff, but this time... you have got to be trolling. There is no way CT and Pac-Man are in any way comparable to one another.

and Shining Force is the bottom of the SRPG barrel for reals. It bored me to tears, and CT kept me engaged for weeks. No way is it better... same for SMRPG, even though i love the crap out of it. just... no.

as per the topic at hand, in no particular order, my top 10 favorite SNES games:
SMRPG
SMW
SMK
Yoshi's Island
Star Fox
Turtles in Time
Tetris Attack
DKC2
Chrono Trigger
Secret of Mana

@J-manSaves

I'd have to agree with TBD, those weren't very good comparisons. Adventure is nothing like Zelda, and as great as Shining Force is, it's a Strategy RPG, and cannot be compared to a Turn-based semi-linear story-based JRPG. That's like comparing apples to pecan pie - sure, you can make apples into pies, but they still aren't the same. Really, all I'm getting from your post is that Zelda and Chrono Trigger just aren't your kind of games, in which case, why even bother calling them overrated if you can't even understand their main appeal?

@Tokengirl

Great, now I gotta go make a top 10 Genesis games list, assuming someone else hasn't beaten me to it.

@JesusSaves: I sure didn't catch the sarcasm in either points.
especially since you said "no, I'm not joking"

And CT is an overall great game, if overrated at times.

Btw, I actually like Shining Force.

Just because I don't agree with your opinion is no reason to call me a troll.
I was hoping you would be able to see the sarcasm/exaggeration when I compared Pac-man and CT. Apparently you were unable to see it.
I'm sorry that you are bored to tears by Shining Force, and yet can somehow enjoy CT. I honestly just don't get how you feel that way. I get that you have a different opinion, but CT bores me to tears and is definitely at the bottom of the barrel for RPGs.

We weren't asking for you to make exaggerations or sarcastic jokes, we were asking to have a civil conversation about the pros and cons of two games, what you thought weren't very good, what could've been improved, and what game in its same class did what they did better. In other words, please elaborate on your opinion - make it so we can understand you. Yes, our opinions do differ, therefore it's already hard enough to understand you as it is. Please don't make it any harder.

@JesusSaves: I was serious when I said you have got to be messing around with us or trolling. the games you listed are not directly comparable, they are of completely different genres and gameplay styles, and when you emphasize that you're serious about what you're saying it's that much harder to take you seriously at all. I'm with Mickeymac on this one.

Oh yes how could I forget Super Punchout? Still love that game. Sim City was actually not too bad. Simplistic nowadays, but still quite fun. And Batman Returns is such a great beatemup, although I never did beat mania mode. Good list Tasuki with a lot of diversity in there.

@Mickey - pretty sure he meant Phantasia. I'm inclined to agree assuming that's the case--that game blew my mind as a kid--first game I ever played and beat in japanese. Also gave me an unjustifiably popular opinion of Motoi Sakuraba's music...I didn't realize he wrote the same soundtrack for every game he worked on at that point.

I'd also agree that Tales of Phantasia is great, with some great action and gameplay, and even a good story if you can understand it. I had a pretty low opinion of Action-RPGs and especially of the Tales series(thanks to some of its more recent brethren being incredibly lame), but ToP turned it all 180 degrees. It was the first time in a while that I really enjoyed an Action-RPG, and loved every minte of it.

While I find that the PSX version improved upon it in every way, the SNES version still holds up well enough on its own, and I found that I still enjoyed it the last time I went back to it.

It is certainly one of the better looking SNES titles, not to mention that the battle system was pretty good. Last time I played it, I had to stop part way through because I seem to have much less patience for RPGs now-a-days. I blame cheese and communism.

@JesusSaves
If you think that pacman has a better story than Chrono Trigger, then I am throwing you into the category with JamesNintendoNerd. Even if you don't like it, you have to admit that it was and still is a really good game.
